TV Licencing, your thoughts.

Just to set the record straight - I live in the UK and I know a few people who have TV which they just use for DVD and games. They have informed TV licensing of this and don't have aerials so they don't pay for a license. If the TV licensing guys came to check (which they never have), they would see that the TVs aren't set up to recieve programmes. This is quite common. Also, if you're sub-letting rooms, you only need to get a separate license for them if the rooms have locks on the doors. A much more complex question regards TV licenses for people who live on boats. The licensing laws haven't been written to take account of this. This site TV Licensing - Understanding your TV Licence only refers to boats as a second home. If you live on one permanently you can't license the boat itself as it's not classed as a fixed dwelling. I'm thinking of moving onto a boat btw...
