This is an offshoot of the thread "Roleplaying, dressing up....Rrrrowr!", in which a discussion arose about Julie Newmar and others in the role of the Catwoman. Some of us posting there are actually old enough to remember her in the television series Batman, way back in the 1960s. So I just thought I would start a thread on sexy women in television shows in the past. To draw an arbitrary limit, let's say that it must be a television series from at least 20 years ago (1987). I would be interested in hearing people's recollections of sexy women in TV shows who had some special role in their own mental and sexual development. For instance, as I wrote in that other thread, I date my fascination with curvy hips to my seeing a shot of Julie Newmar in her Catwoman costume walking away from the camera at the end of an episode of Batman. Somebody I know tells me that he dates his sexual awakening to seeing Barbara Eden in I Dream of Jeannie. Who else has favorites that they would like to reminisce about?

I remember Julie Newmar in Batman...that was one tight outfit. One of my favorites was Linda Evans on The Big Valley. My interest in a particular episode was directly related to her involvement in the story line. I thought all women wore tight blouses in the "old west" for the longest time.

I remember sneaking to watch Morgan Fairchild on "Flamingo Road". And Erin Gray, I believe??, from Battlestar Gallactica. There were two of them. One was evil, and was good, but I thought they were both beautiful and sexy!

Correction guys. Erin Gray was Dale Arden in the NBC series Buck Rogers. Now Serina on the old Battlestar Gallactica was played by the GORGEOUS Jane Seymour who also played Solitaire in Live and Let Die.

As for other TV hotties? I agree Julie Newmar was the better of the two Catwomen. Eartha Kitt had the voice though.

Yvonne Craig as Batgirl was my choice for costumed hottie. And you had to love Barker's Beauties on the Price is Right.

And as for the British crowd, Catherine Schell as Maya on Space 1999 and Louise Jameson as Leela the Huntress on Doctor Who during the Tom Baker era.

I have two I love, and had major crushes on

Lindsay Wagner, played the Bionic Woman
Lynda Carter, played Wonder Woman

those two women kept me still each time their shows went on, I couldnt keep my eyes off of them.

Yeah, but, you know, Barbara Eden (I Dream of Jeannie) had nothing of the dominatrix about her and I seem to recall that she was pretty damned hot. (In contrast with, say, Elizabeth Montgomery of Bewitched, who was absurdly beautiful but not sexy at all.) Maybe I like her because she played her sexual attractiveness for a joke, and you've got to love a sexy woman who makes you laugh.

I can understand your mentioning Diana Rigg in the same breath with Julie Newmar, but that third woman you mention—well, I'll just say that our sentiments diverge.

Yeah, Barbara Eden was hot. Elizabeth Montgomery, the first MILF in my book. I loved her in her witch robes. Mmmmmm.

I should have included Carolyn Jones in that list because she had IT along with Julie Newmar, Diana Rigg and Kim Cattrall. IT is an elusive quality. Take Tina Louise. She played Ginger Grant as a smoky as she knew how yet she was upstaged by Dawn Meadows. Neither of them had IT. Lynda Carter had something like IT, almost, but not quite. Farrah Fawcet had IT, but Jaclyn Smith didn't. Jane Seymour, as many Bond girls, had IT though Suzanne Summers was completely left behind despite her dumb blonde role in Three's Company.

IT is ineffable. Women who have IT just seem not to be terribly far from the bedroom in their thoughts no matter what role they're acting or lines they're speaking. IT is a charisma, a glamour, an allure. Other women may be beautiful, sexy, and charming; even astonishingly so, but they don't necessarily have IT.

My impression of Lynda Carter was the same: I would look at her and think, "That woman has a gorgeous face and body; by every predictor that I can think of, she should make me hot; yet she doesn't!"

But I think that the "elusiveness" of "IT" comes down to the fact that there is no such quality. What we are talking about is not really any quality of these women, but a reaction that we have to them—or rather, that some of us have to some of them, and others to others of them. I mentioned Elizabeth Montgomery as an example of a woman who was beautiful but not sexy: you name her as a MILF. In your post on the other thread, you named Kim Cattrall as a woman whose sex appeal approached that of Julie Newmar and Diana Rigg: to me, her fantastically bad acting (made worse by her obvious delusion that she is an excellent actress) reduces her sex appeal to nil. Someone above named Lindsay Wagner as one who turned him on: to me, she was just a rather pretty woman, nothing more. It is fun to note these divergences of opinion, and to pretend that there is some fact of the matter to be found out; but I don't think that there is. "IT" is just an illusory projection of our individual susceptibilities.

IT isn't beauty in and of itself. IT is something else. I can think of loads of extremely beautiful women who are also graceful, poised, charming, and good actresses (or not). They can be sexy, induce sexual fantasies, all kinds of things, yet they just don't have IT.

I never suggested that IT (okay, I got the bold and the italics this time) is to be identified with beauty, but I did assume that you were talking about some kind of sexual charm. If that's not what you mean (you distinguish it from sexiness), then please explain what you mean.

Julie Newmar for me is the only catwoman. Emma Peel was probably my earliest female icon, sexy, independent and dressed in black leather, you can't beat that :) I never found Linda Carter as Wonder Woman sexy, she was more doll like and unreal than anything like a big brunette barbie doll.

You ain't lyin' about Emma Peel... her outfits in the Avengers were SMOKIN' HOT, too bad she was on the thin side... but she was HOT nonetheless.

Yes, yes, yes... Linda Carter, she had that perfectly symmetrical physique and those HIPS... she still makes me weak in the knees, I do however agree that she is not dripping with sexuality and is probably a bad lay, but those hips...

Erin Gray is definitely the most beautiful and sexy women of all time. I used to drool over her tight spandex bodysuits when she was on Buck Rogers and I soooo wish she was my Stepmom like Ricky on Silver Spoons. She had those CRAZY gorgeous eyes and that deep baritone voice that would melt the socks off of any red blooded male.

Marilu Henner
when she was on Taxi was ULTRA HOT in them tight jeans and her feathered back red hair... OUCH!!!!!

And who could forget Bern Nadette Stanis, Thelma from Good Times... WHAT A BABE FROM HELL... a GORGEOUS face, the most beautiful skin and a body that looked straight off of a porn set.

And yes, Julie Newmar fucked with my head as well...

Olivia Newton John in those black spandex pants at the end of Grease... I just knew that I would have a future as a heterosexual male after I saw that!!!

And I always thought that Kirstie Alley was REALLY sexy when she was on Cheers... I bet she would give a HELL of a blowjob!!!!!
