Then again you could make your own without all the chemicals used for preservatives.

Twinkies
CAKE
2 Cup Flour
1−1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
3/4 Cup Cold Water
2 Teaspoon Vanilla
7 Egg Yolks
7 Egg Whites
1/2 Teaspoon Cream of tartar
FILLING
6 Tablespoon Flour (rounded)
1−1/2 Cup Butter & Crisco mixture
1−1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Cold Milk (scant)
2 Teaspoon Vanilla
Cake:
In a large bowl, mix the first 4 ingredients. Make a well and add the next 4
ingredients. Beat until smooth with a spoon and set aside. Beat the egg
whites with the cream of tartar until stiff peaks form. Pour over egg yolk
batter and fold in until well beaten. Pour batter into extra small loaf pans (available at baking supply stores). sprayed lightly with canola oil. Bake
25-35 minutes in a 350 degree preheated oven. Cool in pan. Invert in pan with
cups under each corner. Cool completely and run a knife around the edge.

Filling:
Combine the first 3 ingredients and beat on high for 5 minutes, gradually
adding the milk and vanilla. Beat 5 more minutes on high. Use an injector or baster to put the filling in the cake. Or you can cut them in half and spread the filling between the two layers.

I knew someone would have a recipe. 1 of my ex-wifes used to make Twinkies herself. Of course the problem with no chemicals is they don't have that strange texture in the cake which makes much fun.

Challenge accepted. But I'm going to have to go and buy a Ding-Dong (I've never had one but I like the name) in order to replicate the recipe. I'll get back to you!

I literally cannot remember the last time I had a Twinkie. It has to have been over a dozen years, easily. The idea of never getting to have one again makes me want one right now!

Deep fried Twinkies are a real treat.

OMG Ding-Dongs are DISGUSTING; I refuse to make somthing that I have to add wax to chocolate to make frosting. I will replicate the cake and filling (which I suspect is the same filling as twinkies) but I'm going to frost it with something edible.

I think the filling in the recipe I found is close to yours and the icing is more fudge like. It is very close to what locally is known as a gob (whoopie pie) cake.

With your assistance you just made the Vegas odds worse.

Did I just discover the equivalent of kryptonite and superman? Could ding dongs drain nudeyorker of his cooking powers?

Whoopie pie???? I thought that was a term used in the bedroom.

You will eat your plate of ding dongs young man or there'll be no castor oil for you before dinner.
Just how is that possible that you are 100% if you aren't into something with DONG in it's name?

OK I made homemade Ding-Dongs... They are way better than those vomitous things I bought to copy the recipe. I'll write it out and post soon.

Ding Dong Cake Recipe - Food.com - 130925

Did anyone notice that this recipe referenced baking a cake according to the directions on the box??

uhm... is that Devil's Food, Milk Chocolate, Chocoalte, or some other kind of chocolate boxed cake?

and ... so much better if made from scratch..

I've heard of this, but never tried.... sounds like suicide to me (lol... jk)

It's at the top of the recipe:
1 (18 ounce) box Pillsbury Plus Devils Food cake mix

I completely agree with you. It would be much better from scratch.
