In defence of ukmale and at the risk of adding flames to the fire I want to say that I share some of his views on the site. I have been here pretty well thoughout, and I have no doubt whatsoever that it is more self-contained and less friendly to newcomers than once it was.

Of course there are aggressive people who stir up trouble, but I have witnessed a few genuine enquirers getting fairly rough treatment from regulars.

That is true but this is a site for adults, I've had people lay into my views before but that's just just how life is. It would be boring to come on here and for everyone to think the same things

We have a broad specrum of society here and it causes heated discussions at times. I don't think there is genuine bullying going on

If he was getting intimidated by regulars on a chat site then he needs a bigger, stronger spine not dick

Who's the loon?

A lot of people share ukmale's views but most live either in permanent lurkerdom and just PM, or in total silence. It's cool you spoke up, ukmale -- and it was predictable that you would be jumped on and predictable by whom. There is clearly a mentality of "go-along-get-along" here and it's annoying when you disagree with the herd, you are called a hundred nasty names. But it's up to you to continue speaking up and challenging the status quo.

Just remember, ukmale, that some of these know-it-alls are hiding their real persona behind a computer screen. Some have a number of alternate screen names (who seem to pop up periodically and conveniently to defend their alter egos). It baffles me how someone can rack up 100s of posts per week and still enjoy a productive life off-line -- but, hey, anything's possible, I guess. Some have been on here so long and so often, they seem to start believing they are actually running this board: calling people out for breaking "the rules" or ratting out others for posting what they deem to be inappropriate material. I mean, squealing? Really?

But, there are some great guys here and some really really cool people. If guys like you continue to bother to speak up the noise from the ranters will diminish.

I didn't call him a loon for his view of the regulars here being too tough on new posters. It was more for the middle part of his post where he was rambling on about having a small dick, great children and a legacy after he dies. What the hell is that all about???

"he was good at what he did, he recorded whats was going on as he stood on the sidelines of history" :wtf:

That's why I said he would fit in well, he doesn't let the subject of the topic get in the way of a good rant

I was being genuine when I said he should stay, he sounds like a fairly normal guy with a slightly mental edgy side too, much like myself when I forget my medication

Right on, Dorset.

I think the main point to his post, though, is that he does not feel free to express his views here because of some of the veteran posters make new members feel unwelcome. To that I say, suck it up and fuck 'em -- go ahead and post and don't be afraid to question "authority." They're a lot like little Wizards of Oz: pull back the curtains and you'll find little insignificant men.

Is this a drag queen "read your beads" thread?

Two drag queens square off and swap insults. This sometimes culminates in someone's wig getting ripped off.

Not a problem, ukmale. I do think you more than proved your point. You will find, though, that if you continue to post when you think you have something to contribute, or when you have a genuine question or concern, that you will get a few replies from either side of the fence. There are a few members who are truly one-track, and will do whatever is necessary to take ANY thread on ANY topic and derail it to their own agenda; there are others who will disagree regardless of what you say; still others who will agree regardless of what you say, and some who will engage you in intelligent discourse, with respect and logic.

Don't be offended if there are disagreements; present your point of view, or move on, it isn't life changing, just interesting.

Those silly Hawaiian women. Between insulting one another and ripping off wigs, I don't see where they have time for anything else.

The internet is like alcohol.
When you are under its influence you either
unleash your love or unleash your hate.

Who likes a mean drunk?

Not as entertaining, however, as drag queens 'reading each others' beads.'
