Most irritating is the fake screaming applause from the audience. It's rarely authentic.

All hosts suck up to their guests and stroke their egos so no difficult or controversial questions ever. First rule in tv talk show land is don't make me look bad.

I'm a liberal so I don't mind the Trump bashing but the networks need to recognize that serious Trump fatigue has set in. I don't want to hear anything about the man anymore. Stop feeding the troll-in-chief.

I'm still a fan of Colbert going back to his old show but Conan is the elder statesman of late night now. His show is the only bearable one left. I really miss Craig Ferguson. At least he understood it was all bullshit.

I don't watch much daytime tv but what I've seen is insipid.

I would argue it went too political. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen Jimmy Kinney cry, I just want there to be jokes and some form of escapism. Johnny Carson made fun of everyone and so did Jay Leno for the most part. However I think with this new group it’s just blasting people upon blasting people. Oh and Samantha Bee calling Any female a c*nt just isn’t appealing to me. I don’t like the word, I don’t like anyone who uses that word. It’s not a joke it’s shock value.

I think that's sometimes for the host's benefit, rather than the guest...

A 'big name' can get their agent/manager to send the host a list of questions or topics that can't be discussed - that agent/manager can basically blackmail the host that any boundary-crossing will prevent them from interviewing that 'big name' or any of the other 'big names' the agent/manager represents ever again.

If your career/show relies on celebrity interviews, you won't want to do anything that threatens your 'supply'.
