Ugandan parliament passes anti-gay bill that includes life in prison - CNN.com

Technically it's "acts of homosexuality" rather than just being gay. Suppose life imprisonment is better than the 2009 proposed bill that listed the punishment of homesexual acts to be execution. Their president still has to sign the thing, but the simple fact it passed parliment is... I don't know a word that adequately describes what this is.

Thoughts??

The scary thing is that all those anti-gay movements in Africa originate here in the US. So the next time someone thinks we gays are being "too touchy" whenever someone from the religious right says something idiotic (wait....when do they not?), remember that we know how they really want things to be. They didn't have any resistance in Africa. Please read through the report in the link below.

and this is what the DD "men" from A and E want for this nation. it aint happenin' folks!

The DD folks never said anything that came anywhere near to suggesting that they thought individuals caught in homosexual acts should be put on trial and in prison for life if convicted.

Certainly there are Western (and especially U.S.) organizations that are fostering this trend in African culture and politics. That does not logically necessitate that said trends originate in the West/U.S. I would be surprised if there really were evidence for that assumption.

Apparently you did not take the time to read the report I linked, which showed financial support from a few well-known US religious organizations.

Quoted from the summary:

"The report authored by Rev. Dr. Kapya Kaoma, an Anglican priest originally from Zambia, investigates the Pat Robertson-founded American Center for Law and Justice, the Mormon-led Family Watch International, and the Roman Catholic Human Life International, as well as a network of Christian dominionists known as the Transformation Movement or New Apostolic Reformation. The report details ACLJ’s efforts to influence the constitution-writing process in Zimbabwe and Kenya, and the anti-LGBT and anti-reproductive justice activities of the other groups in such countries as Uganda, Malawi and Zambia. The report authored by Rev.
