It's simple, really...
If you've posted your e-mail address anywhere online, a bot can find it and send you a spam message like this. They send these little things all over the net looking for e-mail addresses of any kind. They don't just target one user.

One way to prevent scammers from sending you bulk spam like this is to post your e-mail as a graphic. Bots cannot decipher text that is on a jpg or gif, so it tricks the bot into thinking it has come into a picture and moves on. It won't prevent ALL spam and I'm sure someone in Zimbabwe will still want to give you a bunch of diamonds for helping them smuggle money out of a secret account. But it will deflect a good portion of it so it can make room for the messages from the Canadian Pharmacy that offer you Viiaagra instead. :biggrin1:
