Hey guys, I'm uncut, and I've been trying to keep my skin retracted, but after about 12 hours the retracted skin starts to retain fluid/swell slightly. I freak out about having paraphimosis -- is this normal during the retracting process, or should I be doing something differently?

I can't remember because I started keeping mine retracted such a long time ago. Just so you are aware by keeping my foreskin retracted for many years I really did loose a lot of sensitivity on the head. Which I originally thought I wanted but not that much.

This is fully normal. It happened to me too at the beginning, when I was 11 years old.

This is a recurring theme: probably due to Internet porn, keeping the head uncovered has become "trendy" even in countries (mostly Europe) where circumcision is uncommon.
Personally, even if I have enough foreskin to cover two heads (no I haven't tried actually with another penis, but with similar size objects :smile I keep the head out 24/7 since 2003.
This is particularly good to avoid smells, as well as more attractive aesthetically and a pleasurable "feel" when walking.
Quite frankly, I think that if you have difficulty in keeping the head uncovered, you just need to increase its size. It CAN be done, I'm a good testimonial for this: my glans has grown from 5" around to more than 6".
A big head gives and gets more pleasure from sex, and is much more attractive.
Main exercise for glans enlargement is the jelq-squeeze, keeping the squeeze for 15 seconds or so each time. Observe a 1 week - or at least 5 days - recovery period between workouts.

Hey, thanks for the input all. I do it just because I like the way it feels. Its not tight and I don't have a problem keeping it retracted, I just didn't know if there was any point I should be concerned with slight swelling of the retracted skin.

i can hardly remember first retracting mine i was about 12, and it stayed back quite easily. Think i did get a little swellin sometimes but it stopped, and i think that was when the skin 'rearranged' itself to stay as i wanted. I didn't do it for any reason other than i liked it, maybe lost 10% of sensitivity in 30years. And i know other guys who do same and I'm pretty sure it's not porn influencing them either it's just how we want it.best of both worlds.

Yes i geuss theres heaps of scenarios re foreskin length of, what it can and wont do etc, plus yr age, and how big the penis eventually gets.
a nephew had to have an operation when he was maybe 18months as his foreskin would not allow the head to become exposed

Surmising if the foreskin is 'lengthy' then assume retraction wouldnt be so common, think as mine is not so lengthy, then its forever trying to stay retracted, pain in ass ha, forever fiddling, (more so when 15-30, then it seemed to settle down??? or dik shrunk?? ..whatever) and am sure some folk must have thought i was a rude bastard..

Anyway its interesting some folk prefer to have it retracted, much / most of the time, never thought of people preferring that......

Mine would not retract pre-puberty. Dad took me to Dr. Dr. said he would have to circumcise. Dad said no. So Dr. forced it back, clipped the frenulum and taught me how to do stretching. In a few weeks it would retract easily. I wear it both ways, folded under or pulled completely out. At least I have a choice.
