I only knew one guy who had any kind of problem, his foreskin was so long and tight he couldn't retract it to clean under it. But he still wouldn't have it cut. Good luck in making your decision.
Thanks for your comments hrlydvey. One bit of information about this whole hygiene bit - if you can get water in there you can clean under your foreskin. And piss is microfiltered through the kidneys and so is sterile.

I'm uncut (hence, username lol) and when i was younger my brother, who's cut, and his friends, who were cut, would make fun. It bugged for years until my early 2s i just realized having a foreskin was awesome. I've even grown it a bit longer

The whole one brother with/ one brother without concept always boggles me.

I'm guessing the second is uncut after the first is the 'guinea pig' (?)

I decided that given the environment in which my sons live and were to grow up in they would fit in better with their peers when they were in the locker room if they were circumcised. As a child I felt kind of strange when I was in the locker room with other guys even though no one ever said anything about me not being circumcised. So I guess that is why I decided to have my sons circumcised. I know that my one son is glad that he was circumcised because I was involved with him in a conversation with one of his coaches. The coach was a new father and decided to have his son circumcised. He wanted to know our views on having his son circumcised. Both of us agreed that it was the thing to do.

Yeah, sometimes if the mother hears the kid screaming and/or if the penis gets all swollen up and/or the wound care gets messy. Like why the fuck would I do that again?

My friend's sisters all did that. Like three of them. Second sons all intact. One of my sisters the same.

Thanks for all the responses. Anyone else want to share their experience with this? I know its a part of the body, an infant can't choose, etc. But if it is going to cause mental anguish or social anxiety, I would like to know about it to make an informed choice.
Well, you've no idea where in the world he's going to spend his adult life, and though it might still cause social anxiety in some parts of the US (and South Korea, the Philippines, Israel, the Muslim world, tribal Africa...), it won't in other parts of the English-speaking world, Europe, Scandinavia, South/Central America... If you think social anxiety is a reason to have him cut, think about when you tell him why the others are different. Which would you rather? "Well, their parents all had part of theirs cut off, but we didn't"? Or "Well, their parents didn't have part of theirs cut off, but we did."

I am uncut, but I was circumcised. Confused, well it grew back and it completely covers the head of my pennis. I never remember not having it. It grew back when I was a baby and my parents did not want to put me through that again. It has never been an issue. When I was younger I was self conscious about it, but no one ever teased me about it and no women that I have ever been with have had an issue with my dick. If anything they were more amazed by it.
It sounds like you have a condition known as "buried penis", where the shaft skin is pushed forward - a kind of naturally restored foreskin.
I am glad that I am not.
Good to hear, until ...

Ok, I'm not trying to start a war about circumcision here as that has been covered elsewhere in this forum ad nauseam. What I would like to hear is the experience of any uncircumcised males in the US, especially in the midwest.

Were you self-conscious? Were girls turned off or unwilling? Were you asked about it or teased? etc etc

Just considering the consequences for my own future children and would greatly appreciate input from those who lived it.

Until I knew what circumcision was, I always thought you were born one way or the other. As a teenager I was never really self-conscious about being uncut - my school didn't require group showers and I played soccer anyways so I was exempt from PE. We showered at home after practice so I never saw anyone's penis at school apart from the occasional accidental glimpse at the urinal. When I was around 20, I joined a gym that had a public changing area and everyone I saw changing there was circumcised. I always knew that the majority of men in the US are cut, but that's when it really hit me that I was the odd man out. After that I started leaving my (short) foreskin permanently retracted and left it that way until I was circumcised a few weeks ago.

As far as partners commenting on it - NONE ever did. Women I'd been with seemed to not even notice it, even when they found out I was uncircumcised. A couple times women had said they didn't realize I was uncut (since I kept it retracted) and my wife said she didn't care one way or the other - still doesn't, even after my circumcision.

being uncircumcised and born in america ,to answer your question , yes i was self conscious
when we where in gym class and had to change / shower , i did have several guys make fun of me that my cock was different so i was always care full when changing for others not to see me , as far as girls , they where fascinated with my foreskin , later in life thing changed
when i go the gym and shower , i have had guys stare at me being uncut , several have even asked me question like how does it feel ? iam thank full iam not cut still have my foreskin.

What a ridiculous reason for mutilating your child -- not being teased in locker rooms -- and you yourself weren't, and just "felt strange." Without his consent, you take away a large percentage of the kid's sexual sensation nerve endings, given him by nature, because of possibly feeling strange in locker rooms, and then you advise a friend that it is the "thing to do?" I am dumbstruck.

I was never teased in the lockerroom. I don't remember hearing anyone getting teased for having or not having a foreskin. I have never been kicked out of bed for having one either. It seems the ladies like to play with the foreskin and watch it go back and forth. Some say they can't feel any difference but the most says it feels better.

Keep in mind circumcision in the U.S. is a self-perpetuating racket. It takes a gutsy circumcised father to not have his son circumcised. The medical community is as at fault as the parents in continuing this unnecessary surgery. Judging from the U.S. practice of circumcision and the big issue it is with parents, you would wonder how the 80% of men in the world who are intact can possibly manage life with their foreskins.

I'm one of those gusty circumcised fathers who left his sons uncircumcised. It is their body so I decided it should be their choice. The younger one at 19 decided to get cut and I supported his decision just like I supported my older son's to remain intact.

Never had 1 issue growing up, never had an STI, STD or anything else. I was able to retract my foreskin for the first time at age 10 and have never had a problem. As far as other guys making comments or stuff like that it never really happened but I will say I tend to notice more guys looking at my penis when i'm in the showers at the YMCA and most of the time it's older guys 50+

It could have also been a partial or medically improperly performed circumcision....circumcision is not an all or nothing procedure...an ex bf of mine had such a significant foreskin that the doc screwed up and snipped just the top/front part of it and the frenulum but not the entire foreskin to the point he was as an adult basically uncircumcised in appearance and most of the function.

I was very self conscious being uncut. I was the only uncut kid in my school and was teased, the kids didn't know what circumcision was, they thought something was wrong with my dong. I was afraid they would tell the girls that i had a deformed cock. I never saw another uncut guy until i was in the showers in college.

No women have ever complained, all seem to like it. Glad I am uncut. I guess I am a bit of an exhibitionist here because I hid it so long.

I was looked at by other boys in the locker room - so what?! They were jealous! I had ONE girl friend who wouldn't suck - "you're not clean". Short relationship. The long periods of sex is easy; no friction. Anal is easier - some KY is necessary.

My girl friend knew the difference when she had me, vs her former cut boy friend. Not because of size - she said he was the same size as me. But because of the ease of insertion and the gliding of my penis in her. I have to tell you, I was told by a dr during an exam, a couple years ago that I have "abundant foreskin" - his words.

They give NO pain killer when a circ is performed - none. Would you like a surgical procedure with no pain killer? Secondly, cut babies cry when they wet their diapers - because the pee burns! I am an EMS instr. I know a "little bit" about the body's physiology.
