Not really. Don't forget the taxpayer funded costs associated with the government subsidized bailout of automobile makers, airlines, banks, mortgage lenders, etc. Remember: Socialism is evil only when applied to everyday consumers, not the shareholders of large corporations.

Back in the 70s there was a term popularized by the late David Lewis, the Canadian leader of the New Democratic Party at that time.

He campaigned against the corporations from his era calling them "Corporate Welfare Bums" . Corporations routinely lobbied and blackmailed to get government subsidies and bailouts. Not that that has changed much in 35 years.
