Best of luck in the recovery. I wasn't a good candidate for this procedure due to the size of my prostate. I'm a little bummed too, since I don't like the idea of the alternatives and losing sexual functions.

I was told I wasn't a good candidate either, for the same reason, however I was just over the cut off so I decided to try it anyway. The other options are still there if it doesn't work.. Three weeks out of the surgery now and it's hard to tell just how successful it was. Still got some adjusting to do. Urgency seems to be the only symptom now but I was told that is common at this stage.

Three weeks out after my Urolift now. Have a follow up visit with my urologist on Monday. All discomfort is gone now and I seem to be able to go longer without a bathroom trip but when I have to go it is right now! I told my P.A. about it and he assured me that urgency was a common complaint at the three week mark. Actually between the three and four week mark now. From what I understand there is at least a six week period of adjustment. The bladder is learning how to handle the changes.
As for the procedure itself, it was a whole lot better than the alternative. After the first few day, of wearing Depends and lack of control all I had was cramping issues when I peed. Glad the need for the Depends is over but they were a life saver the first few days. I had no control. When it came time to pee I couldn't get to the bathroom fast enough. I'd just start peeing time I realized I had to go but like I said that was just a few days. If you have it done, get some diapers just in case.
Like I said. Everything is back to normal except for the urgency issues. I can hold it for a little while but not long. Hopefully that will pass also.

I really appreciate your feedback with your urolift procedure. I was curious about the need for a "depends". The many videos I've watched show the opening to the bladder wide open. This made me wonder how well the bladder would be able to seal off just after surgery. I also read that they recommend you try to hold off on the urge to urinate as long as you can to help train the bladder. This sounds easier than possible if you run the risk of leaks.
Good news for me (at least I hope) is after my DR performed the ultrasound, the results came back showing I am a good candidate for this. I'm working through the insurance now.
I've been told to expect a 2-week recovery. My job is such that this will sideline me for this period. I hope it doesn't go too far beyond the 2-weeks.
As soon as I'm scheduled, I'm ordering some of those Depends just in case. I'm sure my DR isn't going to tell me about this beforehand.

Also, I've learned the cost my Urologist is charging for this if the patient Has NO coverage by insurance. Over $10,000. Wow!

I'm fortunate enough to have a great insurance group, and my estimated cost will range from $25 to $600, depending on the fine details that are still being worked out.

Good luck with the procedure. Two weeks should be plenty of down time. The pain and burning only last a few days and the cramps lasted about a week and a half, for me. The depends will only be need for a few days. Best of luck and keep me posted. I'll be glad to talk to you about any questions you have

Hey Guys... Time for an update on my Urolift procedure. Im am 7 weeks out now. Let me say I am glad that I had it done. In the beginning things for me were a little rough. Don't let them fool you when they say it's easy. I'm sure @masonjames will agree... My flow has improved. I never pissed like a stallion ( wish I could, just looks like it feels good..LOL ). The urgency has pretty much settled down now. Every once in a while it happens but I suppose that is a natural thing for some of us as we age.. I can now sleep through an entire night without waking up having to go pee. Sex seems to be better now, not sure why. It just feels better, maybe because I am a bottom...:emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
My insurance paid for 100% of my $15,000 cost. I had already met my $5,200 Out of Pocket and Deductible at that time.

If your wondering about getting it done, it all starts with a consultation with a qualified Urologist... :emoji_nerd:

Ok guys. Had my Urolift on the 31st of December. That puts me at about about 5 1/2 weeks out since the procedure.
Peeing much better. No dripping afterwards and no standing and waiting to finish. The urgency was the last thing to go but now I'm able to hold it much longer and most nights I don't get up at all. If I do it's only once,
All in all i am very happy I had it done. Zero regrets and I'd recommend it to any man having prostate enlargement issues.
I will be happy to answer any of your questions or concerns either here or in a private message.

Can you still cum? How do your orgasms feel?

It is nothing to worry about, I had mine a year ago, can sleep all night, and pee like a horse. Some discomfort for a day or two, then back to normal. I would say no pain. Sex is normal with ejaculations the same.

I'm a recent TURP. I wasn't a candidate for Urolift due to size of prostate. TURP was a good solution for me, I think. No issues and really minimal discomfort that ended fairly quickly. Results were good and no sexual side effects.

My main cause for concern about TURP was the HIGH risk of sexual side effects. My Dr's first choice was TURP. I balked and leaned more to UROlift. I'm happy to read this worked out well for the two of you. I was also concerned about climaxes not feeling the same or as pleasurable from TURP. I just want to be able to empty my bladder and not lose what sexual function I have remaining. I'm still in a waiting stance and not sure which way to go.

I went into this with some retrograde ejaculation. The amount of cum was fairly small as compared to years ago. If anything, my volume is now a bit higher, not porn quality, but still a bit better. As for sensation, no change there at all. It was my understanding that retrograde ejaculation was the biggest possibility, and since I had that anyway, it wasn't a concern as long as my urologist assured me the sensation would not be diminished.

Glad to hear it's helped! My Dr is thinking TURP ? Delay is on my mind so far.

As is my Urologist the last time I saw him. I am sure TURP is not as unpleasant as it was a few years back. 2 of my Uncles had this done back in the 50's me a small child and I just listened to conversation and talk between my Father and another Uncle on the way home. It was really unpleasant back then. I have not heard anyone who has received this procedure in recent years.

I visited with my Urologist last week and we scheduled the prostate biopsy on February 19, 2020 but I go this Friday to preregister and have a couple of other tests before the biopsy. This biopsy does not sound pleasant b ut the Urologist wants it and i have the money together that my insurance won't pay. Since I don't have credit I have to pay cash in advance of the procedure. I am use to the cash in advance cause I have been paying cash for everything I buy. So I will let everyone know how the biopsy goes. The preregistration on February 14, 2020 if I get through that I will be pleased. The last time I spoke with some woman that thought she had more authority and knowledge than my Urologist until I look around her office and told her I did not see anything about where she got all her knowledge like I see on my Urologist office walls. It made her mad but she shut her mouth and it was just business after that. The one before her a few weeks back I walked out on and told her to shove it where the sun don't shine.

You know I am sure that "delay" does not help your situation. Every day of delay makes your situation less tolerable for yourself. TURP is just what it is and many face the same situation day in and day out. I am facing the same here plus I have to do the prostate biopsy before the Urologist will go further. I wish now that I would have looked into this several years ago when I was about 65 YO and maybe then it would have been something a bit more pleasant. This is what I get from my delay of things because i remembered my Uncles many years ago I guess. Good luck with the decision you make, I wish you the best.
