Hi, for those of you using avatars i was just wondering if you are concerned that
anyone would recognise you from real life, and therefore be privvy to some of the more private aspects of your life that otherwise they would never have known.

Thats kinda whats keepin me from using an avatar.

I've always wondered about that too. I would NEVER post my picture on the internet, and certainly not on this board.

If you have any reason to be concerned, whether it be professional or personal, I wouldn't post your face. We are getting a lot of "press" on the internet and anyone could end up here. Chest, body shots or avas of something you like would be fine though.

I didn't think this site would have been that well known, its one of those places you have to be looking for to find, in my opinion.

I'm obviously not too concerned about it. In order to see my avatar, the viewer has to be looking through LPSG. So, what's he doing here?

Well, other online sites like "Something Awful" post about us and there have been others where LPSG has come up. I'm sure that's how we got to 10,000 new members in only a year after the site has been around for four. Just saying, 12,000+ membership doesn't even include the people who read here and don't register, anyone could see you.

Personally, I don't care at all, but I have no reason to.

I find visiting Something Awful to be much more embarrassing than being here!

LOL (yeah I said it). I only found out about it because someone posted a link here where they were talking about us. It was pretty stupid, for sure.

I'm a pretty open person, but still only divulge things that I'd share with other people if the same topic of conversation came up. I currently live in the sticks though and have a very slim chance of anyone I know ending up here. When my hubby starts working at his job this summer though and we get out and socialize more often, I might have to rethink it all. I think his company would do some major frowning on my gallery pics.

I posted my pic and I do not worry about being recognized. My opinions that I post are how I feel weather on the internet or in person. Regarding the personal information it is stuff that people who take the time to get to know me in real life would find out and there is no reason to hide it from the people on this board. As for physical characteristics people who care can figure out pretty quickly that I am hung. In short there is nothing that I tell people on this board that I would not tell people in my life (though there are certain things that I will tell people who I am close with that I will not post on any board, but this is true weather I have an avatar or not.)

I do not have an occupation where it would be a big deal to be here. Heck, with my occupation I could get away with joining an outright porn site or a fetish site and the worst that would happen is a couple of guys at work may poke fun of me for a day or two. I can, however, understand that there are some people who have situations (professional and personal) where they do have to remain anonymous when posting on a board like this. I also understand that there are members who have not told people in their “real life” about certain aspects of themselves that they feel comfortable discussing here with some degree of anonymity- and there really is no need to know what they look like either.

I guess it comes down to whatever you, personally, are comfortable with.

On that note I am off to find out what the heck “something awful” is.

While I'm left wondering, what the hell is your profession?

I am going to assume that you are asking me being as nobody else has mentioned occupation.

I have run heavy equipment for far too long. There is nobody on the job site who would really care what I am into in my personal life just so long as I can run a level lift and keep grade. (I am actually considering going back to school to do something where I can use my mind a little more.) Also in the interest of using my mind more I have started actively trading stocks about half a year back. (Financial markets are fun but you have to take into consideration a lot of variables to try to figure out where a stock MAY head in the short term.)
