Surprisingly, sitting on a cold surface can bring it on. Like a concrete park bench or a big rock. This is especially true in cold climates.

I suffered badly with UTI's a few years ago and several courses of antibiotics were needed to shift them. Fortunately I've not had too many problems since then. I know the doctors got very excited about it because they were signed up to the medical textbook myth that men don't get water infections. Well I'm sorry but I know otherwise, both from my own experience and from other guys I've discussed it with. Whilst it's not effective as a treatment for the problem, I'm told cranberry juice is very good at deterring it in the first place as are cranberry tablets and antitis tablets.
UTI Advice:
A) Drink a good deal of water -- frequent urination is a great way to keep the pipes in good order (most people are nowhere near the baseline for urination in a day)
B) Wipe front to back ... obviously.
C) Regulate the male hygiene before sexual intercourse
D) Cranberry juice is fine ... helps to change the pH of the urine which MOST bacteria do not like. Especially the common ones, some actually favor it though.
E) Female hygiene products need to be inserted and removed in timely fashion.

Cranberry juice definitly helps, you need to start drinking it as soon as you suspect something, drink a lot of it though, like a bottle of it a day, you can also mix it with water
1. Drink alot
2. Shower before you stick it in; both parties
3. Don't wear tight fitting underwear
4. Don't put tight fitting underwear on right afterwards
5. Clean up after yourself; yeah you sweat, wipe some of it off
IF you get one:
1. Intaking Baking Soda and other antiacids will help prevent the burning
2. See a doc

I took my last pills yesterday.
All I want to do is get drunk since I couldn't on them but i KNOW, alcohol is no bueno for UTI's.
Too bad there isn't a sure cure for these bastards.
