Vacation in Australia

I'm going on vacation to sydney next week. I heard that the people there are very open minded. So do some of you have insider tips about nice places or activities there?

I'm a sporty student from austria happy to try out new things. Looking for sporty/athletic and funny guys and girls to hang around with, and maybe more
