Vegetarians?

I am. 23 years since I ate red meat or chicken. I eat fish if it's caught by myself or friends. Cheese and milk and eggs are part of my diet as well.

I don't see why I have to feel guilty watching this, because all the meat I buy is either organic or free range (i.e. it doesn't come from those horrible commercial indoor farms and slaughterhouses). So I'm going to carry on eating it.

Saying that though, I would NEVER eat cheap meat/eggs which has come from one of those "intensive farms".

I don't eat red meat and have not for 15 yrs now ! I eat a lot of seafood and chicken and limit my consumption of pork !

 You don't eat red meat but you eat pork? Pork is a red meat...

Pig meat was the first meat to go from my diet. I lived on a farm as a little kid and those are dirty animals. They'll truly eat anything.

full vegetarian since the age of 12... soo umm 12 years. i try to keep full vegan, i make it about 95% of the time.... so yeah, the goat cheese pizza is my weakness.

no cow, no chicken, no piggie, no fishies.. nothing that crawl, slithers, swims or flies. nothing with a heart or a momma.

Vegetraians do not eat flesh be it fish or fowl. Veal and the systematic slaughter of day old male cattle is a part of milk production. This is the ethical and moral reason people do not exploit animals. I am not a vegetarian, I can't defend my diet on moral grounds, but neither would I polish my halo because I choose to eat chicken and fish but not steak. There is a valid point with people who choose not to eat flesh because of dietary laws or because it is medically healthier.

Meat in most parts of the world is too expensive, so we can include economics as well as ethics in our considerations. It is a choice we in the west have. I do believe we should all have the choice with the proviso that if we eat meat we kill it ourselves, and if we choose vegetarianism we might try and grow our own. The meat/agro lobby is nearly as powerful as arms dealers (sorry: defense consultants) and we know in representative governments that we aren't allowed to criticize either.

I tried being a vegetarian for 6 months but gave it up. I did pretty good but got bored quickly due to the lack of creativity, knowledge and skill to do up new dishes or good dishes. Give me eggplant and I would not know what to do with it. :/ I wouldn't know what sauce or spices goes with that. Same goes for a lot of other veggies too.

I would like to get back into it though. I lost about 10 lbs being a vegetarian and was even more energetic, but always hungry. And also my shit didn't smell as bad as when I ate meat. LOL !
