No doubt Lex. But here's my sense. I think Bronxy's contention is inflammatory by its very suggestion....

It seems as though, to me, you're looking for ghosts around every corner. I agree with the previous poster "HotBulge" - what specifics do you have?

I find the level of heightened awareness on this board (generally) pretty impressive and I think it deserves due notice.

I don't see the phenomenon....

Get a grip. Christ almighty get over yourselves.
Your last statement, Stronzo, really comes off an insensitive to the viewpoints of Bronx and other's who may feel similarly.

You ask members to be sensitive to the feelings of homosexual and queer members all the time. You jump on people for the slightest bit of perceived homophobia. So, forgive me if I feel that your statement there comes off as a bit hypocritical.

Nothing is more angering than when someone says that someone's perceptions are not valid. There is NO reality, there is ONLY perception.

Just because you don't see something does not mean it is not there. Straight people don't have gaydar--does that mean that there aren't gay people at the straight bar? Of course not.

Stronzo--please don't take this as an attack, but rather my reaction to your reaction to our discussion of this topic. We can agree to disagree and still discuss this issue I hope.

Racism?.

I strongly believe that TV has a lot of influence on how the average American ticks.
The US News media television channels have made up the image of coloured people and the minorities in the US as it is known to many people in the US. They should inform the public about the real criminals: Enron, Halliburton, the Bush-family. US TV is such a mindwarping brainwash. Thanks to the big fear-machine of corporate owned networks, people will always have a programmed fear of everything that is non-white, non-christian and non-conservative. When i was in the states, the TV was about a black man murdering here, a rape there, carjacking just 2 blocks away and oh yeah... something about (white?) teenagers assulting a black kid. Which means that in the first 5 items race WAS an issue, and in the last item it WAS NOT an issue.

Thank god for the NOS and the BBC!. Just try it out, go to europe and watch euronews or any other scandinavian/benelux broadcast. Just look at this map

Because I think it's bunk Lex. Say what you will. I don't agree with you. In my opinion this thread (as I PMed you) is an attempt, rather overtly, to divide this board and call people "racist" where none exists. I will not defend myself in this regard since I need not.

Speak to Dilznick about the comments he directed at me... then we'll chat.

You wanna talk insensitive? That fucker (Dilz) is looking for trouble and so, IMO, is Bronxy.

Stronzo: Dilznick's avatar bugs me, too, but not for the same reason. If you're using Firefox, there's a way you can block his avatar (specifically) without disabling other people's avatars, and I'd be glad to help you do that if you'd like.

thanks mindesye.

I appreciate your assistance and that fact that you "get" where I'm coming from in this.

This is what's commonly called a "tempest in a teapot".

Why? I mean, it's rather small...

My "modus" is forced sodomy via double barrel shotgun, but I'm making a rare exception to illuminate the darkened corridors of your brain, "dude."

There is enough racism here, and other types of bigotry too, that's sure. Perhaps if some of it was directed at white people, you would have seen it. Dilz (his name is not "that fucker") called you out because he is already aware that I found something you said inflamatory, and he saw that I was already offline. Yes, Stronzie, you, in your New England splendor are one of the closet racists on these fora.

Examples to follow.

yes... yes.. yes... dilzy. You do go on so 'dude'.

I'll allow you to 'illuminate' the 'darkened' corners of my brain when you respond like a civilized individual without a personal agenda which emminates from personal disenfranchisement and age-old intimidation. You're a good deal like the playground bully who likes to stir up the pot then watch the skirmish from a safe place behind the school building.

Now back to your disenfrancised corner. At a boy.

I rest my case. Bronxy? If you have any courage take your vile drivel into private with me unless you need an audience.

You've just exposed your thread for precisely what it is: rabble-rousing of the most insidious order. If I ever had any respect for you it went right down the crapper.

Note to others who'll read this. To the best of my ability I won't read Bronxy and Dilz's crap any longer ... it's my intention now anyway. I've reported their slander to two mods to date.

(now add the "Madame" to the above list)

And next I'm taking it to Rob.

There's no question in my mind that there exists a gang mentality in this thread between these two that has one goal only; to make this board a place of unrest and inflammatory commentary.

I'll have no part of it or them.

By the way I'm writing this from my "place of New England splendor", for which it would appear I should apologize profusely.

Now, I ask you, who has the race problem??:33:

Eh, two reasons --

(1) In general, it bugs me to see avatars of models other than the poster who appear to be chosen solely for their body. It's one of the most literal interpretations of 'using someone's body' that I can think of, and strikes me as dehumanizing.

(2) Then, because it's animated, it's just that much more difficult to tune out when reading a page.

thirteenbyseven's avatar bugs me for the same reasons.

Look. I have lived in a Mid-Atlantic state all my life. All my summer vacations, and my autumn leaf-watching lead me to New England. In fact, New England is just 20 minutes away from my front door. (I do live in the boondocks of NYC.) My reference to New England was simply about the fact that in rural areas in the northeast and mid-west, and any old place down south, bigots have the conviction to be bigots openly. Up here, where you and I live, people like you love to run and hide. Hide if you want. I think it's a good idea to talk about the things specifically said, as well as the perceived need to hide intentions. I don't think we can live peacefully without such. It just means there's too much resentment. Ignore me if you want to, but I think that's cowardice. Which is what I've been calling the closet bigots all along. Cowards. If you think I'm trying to make this a place of inflamatory commentary, quote me. Highlight the best parts. BTW. Slander is spoken lies. I have neither spoken, nor lied.

I don't give a flying fuck about your personal history and it would appear a fair share less than you do mine (curiously). You're pure trouble and your last comment about my habitational "digs" speaks volumes about your mindset.

"Racism" dear Bronxy takes many forms. You've simply and inadvertently (but rather obviously) exposed your own.

Now again, I ask you - take it to private. I'll respond I assure you that is unless you need an audience.

Both are noxious, but I would select b), because the white guy already has as his birthright so many privileges not available to the black man, why does he need to call him names to further degrade and demean him? Unless the things Louis Farrakhan says about us are true...

People call each other names out of fear and ignorance.

Specifically what privileges do you mean? I would argue the opposite is true because of affirmative action.

It's still easier for me to get access to housing, mortgage money, college, and jobs. I can drive pretty much anywhere I want without getting stopped by the cops because of the color of my skin. Just because laws have been passed doesn't mean that discrimination has been erased. Minorities lack the economic clout to stop discrimination from happening.

For the record, Bronxy told me WEEKS ago that she was going to start a thread in this regard, to which I replied--you are free to start a thread about anything you wish (as is anyone). She (and all poster) just have to be able to accpet the feedback (or lack thereof) that the post/thread generates and that fact that it might get closed, or ignored.

This, from my estimation is no conspiracy theory.

Stronzo--I really wish you (and some others) would take disagreement as something other than a personal attack. If someone thinks something you said is racist and you think/know you are not a racist, then I would think that talking it through would be a good way to find common ground--to see where the misunderstanding came from.

Please separate your issues with Dilznick from your issues with the issue.

Many poeple say and think things that they may not be aware of as bigoted. "Straight-acting" when said by gay malkes strikes me as an exampple.

We're talking about overt and veiled racism here, not arguing about a program meant to mitigate its effects. One issue at a time, Shelby.
