I have to say that I'm just totally offended by Webster's post. He's always saying that people are against him, (just read his blog) but he brings it on himself. He's baited people, made huge racial generalizations, and then expects us to respect him. Puh-leeze. I bet he's never been to "da 'hood" and I wonder if he even knows a black person.
His best friend is black.

I can't possibly be the only one on here who wants to stomp the lard out of Freddie53, can I?

The number of comments was annoying, yes. I don't know if I would go so far as to want to stomp anyone, without knowing him personally. I am curious as to the "casual" nature in throwing the word out. Without more information, it seems like someone who quotes bits from "Blazing Saddles" to me just to get to use the slur "nigger" to my face...

I have a process that I use, when I have accidentally offended someone; perhaps others can benefit from it. I say:

"I'm sorry you are upset. I was not aware that my lack of clarity in this communication would lead to this confusion."

I have found this to be a sincere apology, that does not require me to retract my statement.

Sorry Inkubus, it's hard living up the legend which is Lord Dilz. It's not the first time Freddie's done it, either. That 3rd Negro eye is now open and gazing. But I think we need a little Stormfront up in this motherfucker. Variety is the spice of life. The usual suspects pretty much recycle their hate, perhaps we can get a new perspective.

Go ahead and have your group hug and believe that you've solved racism.

That's an utterly tangential comment. Nobody here has suggested - or would be so naive as to suggest - that a tiny board discussion tucked away in a corner of the Internet is anything more than that.

Venting, projecting, nauseating.

I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, because, as we all know, without auditory tones written communication is far too open to misinterpretation. Unfortunately, closing what had been an understandable explanation for a short term lapse in diplomacy with that scornful barb only continues to undermine any personal gains made.

I bow before the legend  . Rest assured, the eye is always open.

Went to the Stormfront site, still feel a need to shower.... I would still rather any ten of those guys in my face, than the Hidden screening my job, credit, or housing applications.

And what exactly did quoting Freddie out of context 73 times accomplish?? Wasted a lot of space and you used a very offensive word, it doesn't matter if you are black Dilznick, the word is still offensive and derogatory regardless of who uses it.

Nahhh, I don't buy that. I've used that word once on a posting in this thread, where I placed it between quotation marks ... and still I felt sufficiently uncomfortable that I paused several times before hitting "submit reply". Now you could argue that I'm from a different generation and grew up in a different place to Freddie... however, I still find it tricky to see how his repeating of the word so many times and with such apparent ease and readiness is appropriate. If you read through Freddie's original post, then he could easily have used constructions such as "that word" or "it" to refer back to what he had said the first time he used the word, with no risk of any ambiguity. What Dr. Dilznick has done, in my opinion at least, is merely to show up the irony in (and thus question) Freddie's filling of his post with endless repetitions of this word.

I'm not certain why you are frustrated, and I have no angst about this issue at all. Completely seriously, I'm sorry this is causing you grief. My question was, and is: Are you aware that ending on a scornful note only serves to undermine anything positive you may have meant? If you no longer wish to discuss this, I accept that; I was not willing to completely close my mind to your points of view without having some clarification from you.

Okay, apparently there are some of you who actually believe Freddie said nigger 73 times. He didn't. That was Dilznick thinking he's cute. We got the point already, but as least Freddie was using it in the context of his experience with it not being allowed in education. Are you REALLY so thin skinned Dilz as to care if he uses certain puncutation? Did you READ the post, or just circle your favorite words?

Remember people, words are neutral, no matter what the word is. How the word is used is rarely neutral, so we have to be careful to look at the context.

My frustration.
My apologies.
You do seem like a reasonable person.
To answer your question: I was not aware.
Please go ahead and ask whatever questions that you might have.

Thank you for your comments. I really have no more questions, I merely wanted to give a brief reminder to everyone how easy it is to discredit one's self. Your frustrated close gave a good illustration, but I am sorry that my example could have been taken so personally. :ponder:
