I have tried both Viagra (sildenafil) and Cialis (tadalafil). They were not generic, since I am very concerned about purity and concentration. I have never tried Levitra (vardenafil).

The Viagra 50mg tablets work great for me, and take about 30 minutes on an empty stomach for good results. Cialis takes a bit longer to kick in, but the effect was pretty much the same, only longer-lasting. I did not have any of the side-effects that others have experienced, and am happy using the Viagra.

One drawback is that these pills are EXPENSIVE! :frown1: I contacted my doctor, and asked him to bump up my prescription to the 100mg tablets so I could cut them with a pill splitter. I get pretty good results with only 25mg, making my per-dose cost about $2.25.

All three of these drugs work by inhibiting cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5). Cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) relaxes the smooth muscles in arterial walls of the penis. cGMP is synthesized from Guanosine-5'-triphosphate (GTP) by using guanylate cyclase (GC) as a catalyst during periods of sexual arousal. After a man ejaculates, the enzyme, PDE5 begins breaking down the cGMP, and the erection subsides. It is neat a balancing act.

As men get older, the level of PDE5 tends to increase, resulting in various degrees of Erectile Dysfunction (ED), or impotence. By taking one of the above PDE5 inhibitors, many men are able to achieve a satisfactory erection. In my case, with Viagra, my erections are now as hard as they were when I was a teenager! :biggrin1: :biggrin1: :biggrin1:

Looking for a cheaper cost-per-erection, I did some research. An interesting finding was that taking 200mg of cimetidine (Tagamet - for heartburn) increased the blood plasma concentration of Viagra by 56%. As far as I could find (I am very careful about drug interactions), there was no additional side-effects by taking Viagra with Tagamet. HOWEVER, the Viagra dosage should be reduced. I now take 25mg of Viagra with one 200mg cimetidine tablet. My erections are consistently very hard, and the effectiveness of the Viagra is now about 6 hours instead of the regular 4 hours.

:icon4: Since any of these ED drugs work by relaxing arterial smooth muscle, taking them with other nitrates (such as nitro-glycerine heart medication), can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Some people take an illicit recreational nitrate drug known as "poppers". Using ED drugs in conjunction with nitrates can cause death.

:icon4: You should avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking Viagra, since it can delay the drug's absorption. Possibly leading to disappointing results.

:icon4: This message contains my findings, and should not be taken as advice to mix Viagra with cimetidine or any other drug or grapefruit juice. You should do your own research, and always consult your doctor for medical advice.

you left off the conclusion:
Conclusions
Cimetidine co-administration produced an increase in sildenafil plasma levels; however, this increase is not sufficient to warrant dosage adjustment of either drug. Antacid coadministration had no effect on the pharmacokinetic profile of sildenafil.

i took viagra to give me stronger erections (i dont have a problem with ed, just wanted to see what the drug did). Neither the viagra or cialis did anything. I had to achieve an erection by myself and with my hand. I notice that the pills helped keep it up but there was no affect before i got myself up. I thought these meds are suppose to give you an instant erection without use of masterbation or aids? I took 2 whole pills!!!

Excellent point, Industrialsize!

I hinted about it in my findings, but your quote from the study spells their findings and recommendations out exactly. According to their findings, taking Viagra along with Tagamet is safe. (And in my case, cuts the per-dose cost significantly.)

I hope that the patent on all of these drugs expires soon. Then, legitimate generic drugs can be obtained safely.

If your PGE5 level is normal, then these drugs usually don't enhance your erections.

Nope, nobody ever claimed they gave you an instant involuntary erection. You may be confusing them with the notorious Spanish Fly aphrodisiac.

The times I've taken it recreactionally it didn't give me an instant erection, but it made it alot easier to get one and keep one as well as making my penis feel fuller and heavier when not erect. I also cum more and can cum more often when I take it. But it gives me a low grade headache for hours and I even feel a little swimmy headed when it kicks in. So I only take it when I really want to have a good long time with somebody.

From years experience I've learned to avoid grapefruit juice because of complications with absorption. This was enevr a big loss to me, as it's hardly in my top-10 things to drink.

I took Viagra once and was disappointed: the major effect was a massive headache, and although my erections were slightly firmer, I still went up and down just like I always have (since I was a teenager).

Levitra worked much better on me: no headache and I achieved a sustained erection of teen-like hardness that would take several minutes to go down during, say, an extended break, and even then not completely.

My only real complaint was that, because I edge and three hours is a quickie, I became pretty much totally desensitized because of all that fucking, and after about six hours (not an abnormally long encounter for me) finally gave up even trying to break through the plateau I was fixed on and just ended the session without cumming. Next time (should I have the chance to fuck on Levitra again), I'll cum after about 90 minutes and try again after a short break.

I also suffered from the inability to ejaculate from Sildenafil Citrate and based on how it operates I would probably have the same effect from Vardenafil. I do use Tadalafil which does help, but if intercourse is going to be in the picture I still keep Quadmix on hand which works very well as far as the erection part.

How exactly do you get a script? I am 20 and am more interested in recreational use.
Get your doctor to prescribe it? Don't see why a 20 year old would want to try it - it will have a negligible effect, unless there's something seriously wrong.

Grapefruit juice is my favorite fruit juice by far, and has been since a boy...BUT...when I take any kind of medicine...even
vitamines...I never use grapefruit juice.
It's just too risky!

I'm a type II diabetic, and sometimes I have a slight problem
with ED, but thankfully it's only an occasion problem. The
doctor says it's probably due to one of my medications more
than the diabetes.

I have tried viagra and cialis....both did nothing special for me
except maybe helped keep erections longer. But, I received
from both...bad side effects! Terrible headaches and backaches.

The backaches were like a steel rod had been run through my ass...through the body and my penis and out my meatus. TERRIBLE!!!
And, it took a couple of days to get relief each time I took them... I tried them two or three different times and got the
same reaction each time.

I will never take them again!
