    YouTube - Elephant Eats Poop

This is the equivalent of you feeling a bit peckish, rooting a turd out from up your mates arse with your nose and chowing down on it...

What the fuck is wrong with elephants?!

It does seem pretty gross...imo...couldn't watch all of it, he gets in there though. But, a lot of mammals eat each others poo or their own, including dogs. It's a way of keeping things clean when they're babies or covering their tracks. This elephant could just be uh...grooming a delicate area as elephants are herd/pack animals, they participate in reciprocal altruism, just like us humans do. He/she could also be doing it to get their scent...there are numerous reasons to this kind of behavior...but yeah, ick. I'll go with grooming though...still super gross.

The question that springs to my mind is to ask WTF is wrong with you that you would go searching for, and then share, such a video.

BTW, it's pachyderm...Greek for thick skin.

Elephants are a bit like rabbits and gorillas. Their digestive systems ain't too efficient and they quite often pass food through again to get the maximum nutrition out of their food. Taking a second bite at the cherry as it were.
