While several threads address jockstraps on here, I couldn't find one exactly pertaining to my question.

I was going thru some old stuff today and came across an old jockstrap of mine I had forgot about. I had actually given it to my girlfriends soon to wear a few years back and I guess it made its way back into my stuff when I moved out year before last.

It is a Wilson brand and it is black. It was the first black jockstrap I ever owned, not sure were I purchased it from, but I think it might have been at our local KMart. It is real similar to the first black Bike ones I saw so there may have been a common factory making it for both Bike and Wilson. I must have purchased it late in high school since my senior season wrestling is the first I remember having a black jock to wear under my singlet.
I have not seen a Wilson jockstrap in over a decade.
The last Wilson ones I saw were cup jocks, rarely saw any more jockstraps or black jockstraps from them.

Anyone else have a memorable jockstrap that is no longer available--besides the obvious Bike which every old school jock misses.

Yup. I remember the Champion brand jock From the late 80's or so. They had wider leg straps than other jocks at the time and a comfortable waistband. The pouch was nice but I never understood why the company ran a seam right up the middle of the pouch. It was still comfortable and I used it for gym, running, mowing the lawn and so forth.

If I'm not mistaken it had a good amount of cotton in the waistband because years later Champion made the Cool Max jock and it was a far cry from what I'd gotten used to.

While Bike was always my first choice for a strap, I always had a Champion in my gym bag or locker to alternate with.

Don't miss them for a minute my friend. Wearing those jocks made me look like I had a constant hard-on and to think that I did it for 20+ years until someone invented spandex!

The Adams brand jockstraps that were bought in bulk for the football team back when I played also had that seem up the middle. I was told it was to give them longer life after the pouch had given out, they would still not just stretch forever.

Great post. I have been into jocks since the age of 11 in 1971. Loved them fuckers; still do. I think ALL guys should have to wear jocks.
Like you, I always preferred Bikes, but I also had Champions and Dukes, and they were all great and hot
I'm curious why the OP gave his jock to his girlfriend. WTF?

you should upload some pics of the jock(s)!!!

I have to go with the classic Tru Fit jock that was sold at K-Mart in the 80s and 90s. Luckily I have a couple of these that are still in great shape. The pouch was an "open weave" design that kept your junk cool, but was also basically see-through if that's all you happened to be wearing. I occasionally wear it to the gym, but not very often because I don't want to wear it out. Here are a couple pics to give you an idea if you're not familiar.

I had several of these at one time too. I was never real fond of the waistband. Kind of put them in my loaner side of my jock drawer. So probably ended up giving them all away. Might have 1 left somewhere in my old high school stuff.

favorite all time jock is the champion cool jock but not sure if it counts as vintage it is out of production but i do have at least one left. wore it to mow and also as daily undies a bit.

I saw several of these around the locker room during track season back in college in the late 90's, but probably only wore one maybe once. Never a big fan of the narrow waist. But best I remember it was a very comfortable pouch.

another one duke had it in college. and a martin cup from ebay.

If that Duke is one of the ones with the plusher waist band, I too have several of those. I was a staple back in high school football and was what we bought in our team packs up until they quit making it a few years back. I still have a dozen or so of them in the equipment room that we quit giving out when realized we couldn't get anymore. It was also the predominant jock for at least 1 of the military academies. It has been one of my favorites most of my athletic life.
Our sales rep recently showed us a Flairco as an option to put in our team packs this year that seemed to have that same waistband and a similar pouch. I still have his sample back at my office, I should try it myself and see if it wears like those old Duke ones.

I remember the cups similar to that martin one too. It must have been one of the first design to come along after the old triangle one from the old days til the true banana cup design came along. Duke had one similar to it they called a contour cup. The Martin's were cheap and thus made their way into a lot of locker rooms when items had to be bid on to purchase. They are still around now and are actually pretty popular with the middle school guys who will give them a try. Many of them like the room of the adult size without the obscene bulge the more modern cups give.

some from my collection old style champion jock. love this one pouch is super soft and comfy

I have never had nor seen one of these, but they look very comfortable, soft and snug. Have a lot of appearance similar to the Grid ones I have but I don't think the grid is near as snug as this looks to be.
The Champion jockstraps I have had are from the same era as the cooljock, but with a traditional wide waist and a ribbed but slick feeling polyester pouch.

The Champion jockstrap I mentioned earlier shown here. The leg straps were attached a little closer to the pouch than other jocks at the time plus the leg straps were a bit wider making the jock have a sporty feel to it.

They were great gym jocks.
