I can not offer any other suggestions - but just my support and to let you know that I think sooner than later you should go to the doc for specialist advise and treatment. After you realize that doctors have 'seen' it all before - and they are not there to 'judge' you - but there for advise and treatment. You will be ok m8!!

doctors are doctors for a reason... their education and training. You have to listen to them and either accept or reject their diagnosis. If you reject it, you are still going to have the problem and it may very well get worse.

You'll feel better once you deal successfully with the health issues.

herr_markums,

It's clear that you don't have the O/P's wishes at heart and it appears you have an agenda. The O/P stated twice [1, 2] that he doesn't want a circumcision. It may have been the best solution for you but for someone who wants to keep his foreskin, it should be a last resort.

So you had a circumcision ~14 days and it's "one of the best decisions" of your life? That certainly appears to be a premature and rather specious assertion.

I was just trying to give him some advice, sorry if it felt i had an agenda, i genuinely dont want to upset anyone.

Considering the fact he's a virgin at the age of 25 due to his problem this is clearly a massive issue for him. Having that same problem but doing something about the situation 6 years earlier than him in my life has probably helped me from avoiding his current position.

Think back to when you last had sex. Now think about what it might have been like if every thrust would be extremely painful and may tear the foreskin itself.

I'm not a radical who thinks everyone should be circumcised to prevent the problem, clearly 99% of the population have no problem with their penises intact or otherwise. For someone in my position a partial or full circumcision is the only real long term solution and i was just offering some advice if he wanted it.

As for best decisions, consider the fact you have always been scared of contact due to the fact it might lead to sex and you wouldnt be able to perform. Surely being able to perform in future without hesitation is only a good thing?

Once again, im sorry if it appeared i had an agenda. I was just trying to offer my own advice as its been a real issue for me too.

i wouldnt like to think i'd angered anyone in my couple of posts, sorry stevehd...

also had a tight foreskin until my mid twenties, plucked up the courage to go to the doctors, who then referred me to a urologist. Several months later went in to day clinic and had circumcision.
The thought of having it done was worse than the discomfort, but this lasted a while It actually took a few years to completely heal as my foreskin had never retracted before at all.
Looking back i knew it had to be done and you must do the same whether you need an operation or not, go and see a doctor. good luck

I just wrote a long reply and lost it, so will keep this short ;)

I will have my circ next week after seeing a urologist. They reassured me about the procedure and they would only cut off a little at a time during the op.

I am very nervous about it though and have been assey with people at work because of my nerves. People know something is up with me and are worried because im not my normal self. Should I be this worried? Am I being irrational?

hey guy,...any medical work being done is good reason to be concerned, that is normal, trust your doctor, ask questions, be alert prior to procedure...make sure they are working on the correct area...good luck with your CIRC...lets us know how it turns out...be brave....think of the good times ahead if your penis problems are over and behind you...

Ta mate. What kind of excuse can I use to friends and family for being bed bound for 2/3 days? I can't just say im ill to people I live with. It's really obvious that I wouldn't just be ill right? I obviously dont want anyone to know im having a circ

penisprobs,

Sorry to learn that the knife is the chosen solution. You stated twice that you didn't want circumcision, so, what was the persuasive case made by the doctors? I won't harass you; I'd just like to know.

If there was a viable alternative, would you prefer that? Unless you have BXO or some other sclerosis, a preputioplasty should work. If not, the doctor should be able to give a cogent explanation.

Assuming you go on to a circumcision, go ahead and tell your family and co-workers. You'll be immobilized for maybe a few days -- not "bed bound" -- so they'll know something's amiss anyway. Even if you remain secretive, chances are they find out anyway. Get it over with and tell them.

Being "nervous" is o.k. It's a major surgery. [A "minor" surgery is someone ELSE'S surgery.] Best wishes to you.

I am sorry as well, but I have no energy at the moment to seek 5 different opinions, and I did my research before I selected a urologist. He told me straight away that this is what I would need. I did ask if there was any other option and he said no. To be honest he couldn't wait to get me out of the door quick enough, but i've booked it in now and am just looking forward to it being resolved - even though I am scared about the op!

penisprobs, if you get a circumcision and/or frenulumectomy with local anesthetic, you can walk out of the clinic within 2 hours of walking in. They keep you in for about an hour after the op just to make sure the blood vessels haven't burst etc. (just a precaution).

You can walk out and take public transit home. You can go to work if you have an office job. But you don't want to play sports or any serious physical activity that would put any strain on the scar/stitches as you move around. But otherwise, you can live normally, walk around and not be in bed.

If you get your circ on a friday, you then have all weekend to get used to being bandaged and the new penis. Different doctors prescribe different bandage wearing regimes.

Wear loose pants, and well fitted briefs (not too tight, but some which hold the package).

If you have a wasteful general anesthesia, you will need to stay at hosptal much longer and probably require a ride home (or taxi).

Yes, PenisProbs, just go see a doctor - he or she will have dealt with the same problem before many times and will have the expert advice and counsel you need. Though you feel embarrassed or ashamed, you HAVE TO REMEMBER that is is all in YOUR mind, not the doctor's and they will non-judgementally help you into a better physical and mental state. You have nothing to lose except your problem. go for it!!!

I just received the hospital's documentation and everything involved in circumcision. It has made me so nervous it's untrue.

having scrubbed on many circumcisions, i can (in an awkward way only the internet provide) assure you that the procedure is incredibly safe. most people get a form of anesthesia called MAC, which lessens the recovery time, too.

it's unfortunate emotionally that you are having a circ after initially not wanting it, but since you chose a competent urologist, you should feel more confident.

I have just come back from the op - I feel fine. They didn't do the circ! They did a frenuplasty! They said it would stretch back fine now, although I shouldn't try and stretch until 48 hours. I am over the moon they they felt they didn't need to do the circ! I will see what happens in 2-3 days though, cause I am still concerned that it may not go back. So happy now though! Glad you were all here to help and advise me!

Wow! I'm happy for you!

Did they change the plan before or during the surgery? Or was there a miscommunication and it was a frenuloplasty planned all along?

It appears you had frenulum breve rather than phimosis.

I've deduced that you're in Britain and so this outcome has raised my opinion of British doctors.

I'm glad that someone appears in the early stages of a frenuplasty, to have a much better outcome than I did, and I realy do hope this works out for you, and not end up with the issues I had from two years a go.

Thanks!

I spoke to the doc beforehand and said I was concerned that the frenulum may also be an issue. They said they would cut off a bit of the foreskin first and then work on the frenulum. I voiced my opinion of cutting off a little of the skin at a time, as I still wanted it intact.

After surgery they told me that after strecthing back the foreskin and cutting the frenulum, it seamed to stretch back naturally, and they didn't want to cut any of the foreskin off as I had told them I wanted it intact as much as possible.

Stan Marsh, what happened to you? Please expand a little?
