The article is accurate, but horrible as this is the headline is totally wrong. Removing protection is not the same thing as immediately banning gays from being state employees. They weren't banned before 2006 and won't be now. But Virginia has taken a giant step backward and stained the honor of the commonwealth. (Which had enough stains already.)

I remember him.

Unfortunately they are not. CW is run by a private foundation, which was established by the Rockefellers.

Ah, the Rockefellers. The sort of Republican one could support with gusto and a clean conscience. They are dearly missed.

I hate linking to wiki but sometimes it's just easier:

Rockefeller family - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rockefeller Republican - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And of course Jay has gone all "rogue" and turned toward the Dem:

Jay Rockefeller - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No, gay men and women are not barred from working in Virginia.

Each governor going back 30 years or so has signed an executive order banning discrimination against state employees. That executive order included sexual orientation under the former governor, but the current governor, who was the attorney general at the time, believed it was illegal. When he became governor, he signed the exec order, but purposely left out the part that included sexual orientation.

Yes, indeed, tho' they don't call them Rockefeller Repubs anymore. Maybe cause they are so few, if any, left.

Nelson, although considered to be very right wing (by the left) during his 14 years as Gov of NY, would be far too left wing for many on the right today, thanks to Goldwater and Reagan. Jay maybe the family political conscience.

As to the CW Foundation, they are an equal opportunity lot, and now have to run the center without an endowment. But, oh yeah, some of those "hysterical" interpreters get a lil' too into the act.
