When you are married or in a committed relationship, gay or str8, would you consider your partner to be cheating if you found out that they were having fantasy virtual sex with someone on the internet?

Let's assume that this is not a person that your partner would ever meet or have any real life dealings with, it's all just online fantasy?

What are your thoughts?

I personally wouldn't think it was cheating. it's kind of like live action porn to me.

I never think anything is black & white. That is something that partners have to discuss. You could take it to extremes and say even fantasizing in your mind about someone else is cheating. Ideally both partners have similar limits and/or can accept what their partners are doing.

I would feel cheated. Because you are supposed to be special to your partner. When they are centering their affections on another via the internet, you will eventually have to take a back seat to their preoccupation. IT WILL GROW LIKE A CANCER.

Why allow for that possibility? I don't understand it either.

This is a messy issue but I have to ask, why not just pop in a porn in the DVD and have your fun with your partner instead?

Tend to agree with you Matt, if you are in a relationship and it is not considered 'open' then I feel that having virtual sex is a no-no - shouldnt your affections be directed to your partner?

Yes I would consider it cheating...sharing any sort of intimacy or anything sexual with someone else outside of the relationship is cheating in my book...
