Visiting a synagogue / mosque being uncircumcised

Hello people,

I've always been interested in different kinds of religions and visited probably hundrets of different churches of different christian religions. Now, I am traveling to Israel soon and wouldn't miss the opportunity to visit a synagogue, when I had that question in my head:

Do I have to be cut to be allowed to visit a synaguge? Would it be unrespectfull visiting one (and maybe even a Mosque, since they also cut their guys) while being uncut?

This is a serious question and also try not to make this into a religious war thread or into a conversation about circumisation. Please :)

I would think not as how would they know anyway!!

Well, that is surely true. But what if you have to use the restrooms? Also, just because they likely won't find out, does it make it allowed/forbidden?

:D

Just trying to figure out if it is allowed/ not disrespectfull :D
Thanks for your input!

They don't check wangs at the door ;)

Ms. @Scarletbegonia might have some feedback on the appropriate behavior of gentiles attending synagogue.

If ya going to an orthodox service dress appropriately. Make sure you don't touch anyone of the opposite sex. Make sure you don't say some of the prayers in Hebrew cuz they mention G_d by name and that's no kosher for gentiles. Don't accept any honors extended to you by mistake. Also, don't get counted in the mimyan/quorum.

Additional points. Don't wear crosses or talk about Jesus *The OP seems to be a very sensible person and I doubt it needs to be said.. but other folks might be reading this*

Last I can think of is don't go during the High Holy Days. The place gets crowded and you might displace someone of the faith.

What to expect when you visit the synagogue. *clickie*

I’m so tempted to suggest a bris.

Members of the tribe must be circumcised. We don’t care what anyone else does. Like eating pork. Unless we happen to be your cardiologist.

Put on the kippah/yarmulke. Leave the prayer shawl.

It’s easier to stay at the back. Since you aren’t praying.
Also, services aren’t tourist destinations. Some shuls discourage guests during services.
Aim for a Reform or conservative congreagation, and you might want to contact the rabbi, first.

If you had of lived back in the 30's, 40's the SS would have checked your cock. The Nazi Accomplice in the Circumcision

The link leads to other stuff.

But never trust a government whom collects information about it's population. For that same government will fight for it's survival and not the survival of those who elected it.

I can't believe how ignorant people are of history.

Yeah, mutilate, murder millions....try to create a superrace....but it's not believable if you were circumcised or not decided your life or death.

Un, fucking believable.

Oh wow, 80 years on from those times....we have a Donald Racist Trump as President of the United States.

He is one hop, skip and jump from a Fascist Nazi.

Again...Un fucking believable.

Why does it really matter? Imagine how fickle you would have to be to think someone was disrespecting your religion/place or worship? Why do you owe them an explanation?

It mattered to Hitler and his henchmen. How long ago was that.....apparently it's still a talking point here enough for you to reply.

No it does not matter, but it's pretty easy on this site to recognise who it means life or death to because they are so vehement in their discussions..

I don't really get what your inferring here about Hitler or "life and death" but it looks to me like your trying to stretch what I said into your own meaning. The point intended was that it's kind of weird to think about walking into a place and be in ng worried or feeling anxious that you wouldn't be allowed somewhere just because you haven't had your penis ritually mutilated.

Hi SoNice, welcome aboard first of all! :)

Well, this is one of the oddest questions I've ever heard, but I appreciate your respect towards other cultures and religions. I'm not Jewish or Muslim but I don't think that is an issue at all. You are not going to be the first or the last person to visit a synagogue, many people did that before and as far as I know being cut has never been required! ^_^

I'm also interested in various religions despite not being a believer myself, so I kind of sympathize with your overall curiosity. :)

I'm sure your dick flap isn't anywhere near the only thing that would make you ritually unclean, as someone who has presumably never practiced Judaism or Islam.

Basically it just comes down to whether the synagogue allows non-Jews to visit. If they do, I'm sure they're aware that plenty of non-Jews are not circumcised.

Same goes for a mosque (though, unlike with Orthodox Judaism, I don't think circumcision even is an absolute ritual requirement for incorporation into Islam).
