SpeedoGuy: Not a deep voice here but bigger than average. People say I sound a lot like Willie Nelson.

dfox7.3x5: I've never liked my voice very much. Too nasal and only medium range. My two grown sons have wonderful baritones. I do have a good tenor singing voice and was in high school and college choirs.

I do the showtimes recording at my theater, so if you want a good laugh :D call 425-776-3535. It's a Seattle suburb.

It may be a big dick & a deep voice, but I think it's more big nuts & a deep voice. I have a deep voice & my nuts hang down low. I guess this is a very scientific comment on my part. :D

Pretty average speaking voice. Nothing too high, nor too low. But I guess a bit on the lower side.

Owwwkaaaay... me... ::)
I consider myself having an average voice... whatever "average could mean. Umm... maybe it's just me, but when I speak English, it goes low, it's closer to baritone. When I speak French ("Franch"), it does change, going upwards with at least a semi-tone. In Italian, I keep the same sound as in speaking Roumanian, that I'd call rather neutral.

So, for me, the best criteria would be the decibel levels ;D !

As for my accents, I mentioned them in a previous posting.

bblumbee: I have experienced some similar "patterns" here that many of the ladies have discussed. When people see me, they expect to hear this 'high-pitched' voice, however, I have a very soft and moderately deep voice. Coupled with it is a HEAVY southern accent!

I do get lots of guys asking me to say something 'dirty.' I suppose it has it benefits. ;)

However, my singing voice is quite different. I have a huge vocal range, spanning 3 octaves. Sooooo... I can sing tenor, alto, and reach 1st Soprano notes, which, too, have its advantages.

longtimelurker: I always say that I have a very generic southern (English) accent. I have quite a deep voice, though.

I do dislike my voice when I hear it recorded - it always seems a LOT deeper than it does inside my head (where it seems quite mid-ranged). I also think I sound too posh and snooty (I even got asked whether I went to public school by a waitress when at home in the holidays!).

I have an attention-getting voice, sort of like scraping fingernails across a blackboard.

I never get asked to speak at public gettogethers. :-/

like_a_UB_Bull: Some people who meet me tell me I have the deepest voice they've ever heard. I think that's going a bit far, but it definately is deep, I sang bass in high school, a bit here at UB, and was always the deepest in the chorus or group I was in.

7x6andchg: Say - as an aside to this thread, all - for those of you that have speakers or a microphone or both - there will be a Yahoo type/voice chat this Friday if you have Yahoo Messenger downloaded....you can come hear what everyone is "talking" about...pardon the pun.

Tenor here (in my normal voice), with a three-octave range.

I'd say it all depends. If it's genetic (at a population level), tenors would be more hung, as it's caused by sexual selection. OTOH, if it's caused by the genes for the timing of puberty (heterochrony), basses would, a case of recapitulation; and tenors (neoteny) would be less hung.

ItalianStallion: I know that a higher than average level of testosterone can lead to a deeper voice, and high testosterone can lead to a larger than average penis size, I have always sang bass, and my endowment is not huge, but i would say quite large. I think that may be a connection.
