This is a way off topic thread - but I'm curious if anyone here does volunteer work of any kind.

Would be cool to meet like-minded folks in this community!

actually turned my volunteer interests into a full time effort here over the past few years. Helping children and families.

I volunteer at an extremely cool and very large park here in my city. It's a great place for walking in the woods, off-road biking, cross-country skiing, and kayaking. I spent last Saturday morning helping rebuild an eroded section of a trail.

I volunteer some. I donate money to several charities I consider worthy. I volunteer time as a coach and referee for several fencing clubs in the area. I also have volunteered time as a physical sciences instructor for wildland firefighters at several rural fire departments and Indian reservations.

Yes, I "work" with Metro planning for the City of Portland. I commonly help out at festivals such as the upcoming Rose Festival, helping seat people, move people, get the floats in order, etc. I also help Metro by assisting older Tourists in getting around the city when they use Flexcar or Public Transit.

I volunteered for years with an organization before I was “recruited” just over a year ago. I am, regrettably moving on within the next couple of weeks but will try to become a volunteer again if time allows.

Volunteering has been part of my life since I was at school, then it was mainly helping older people with lawns etc. When I was studying I worked with intellectual and physically disabled people. Now its art, heritage type work and I still also volunteer with botanical and horticultural organisations. It makes for a rich life. I like helping with stuff I guess. Interesting to hear what you all get up to:smile:
