The Opening Ceremony and the next couple of games the noise seemed to be excessive
Now it appears to have toned down? either that or i am dreaming
even heard a commentator say the main lot of the noise is from 'outside' the stadiums?
Does not make it better,.,,personally i have accepted it .. a LITTLE
if the folk had any sense they would perhaps play it in 10 minute segments, say after a score has happened ONLY'
my sentiments,
i have to say i have reluctantly accepted it...does Not mean i like it
as originally stated, i dislike it immensleyi would never have a desire to espose my cultural music on the massess.
Matter of fact if NZ in next years RWC happen to allow stone/reed instruments of the Maori (me 1/2) play on the fields of NZ, perhaps people would find it beautiful and melodic
i would STILL not expect it to be imposed on the world .. continuously
enz

I hate it too. I've never been a fan of noise, especially if it's monotonous and repetitive. But in all fairness, it hardly sounds any worse than any of the other international soccer games I've witnessed on TV throughout my entire life. Soccer games have always been a noisy affair way before the vuvu saw the light of day. What about those pressurised cannister-thingies that are used at European games?

The vuvuzela is extremely annoying when heard live. What is heard on TV is really not that bad.

Think back to Germany. What a great festival, enjoying and celebrating the diversity of the nations involved. All this is drowned out by that dreadful f'ing horn.

I really expected a fantastic celebration and party in South Africa, you may be getting it on the ground, but from my TV all I am getting is tinnitus.

Why aren't the TV producers showing more of the crowd?

Came into Et Cetera looking for a HickBoy thread.

If I didn't find one on the first page I'd have complained.

**You should see the party tonight!
;-)

**Oh, probably because they dance only to the tune of FIFA's vuvuzela...

It's sounds like a fanny infection not a musical instrument.

The World cup is a bit like marriage. Enjoyable on the whole but there's always a droning going on in the background.

Honestly I like it. It makes it feel like an event to me at least. Plus while watching US-Algeria I didnt even notice because I was at the edge of my seat waiting for us Yanks to score because England was beating Slovenia.
