Waiting In Line

Here is a scenario:
Lets say there is a 2 hour...3 hour...even a 4 hour wait for (a thing, a person, to win something etc) what would it have to be for you to wait in line for that long?

If you have waited that long what was it for and why did you wait that long for it?

My inner Karen is aghast at the idea of waiting for anything. Instant gratification, baby.

For true? A couple hours, unless I am in line for lady's room, ain't a big deal. If it's something I want *globally getting anything you merely want is a luxury* or need, then queue the fuck up and chill the fuck out. Technology makes down time entertaining or productive depending on ya inclinations.

I know people wait for hours to get base survival items. Water to maybe the only meal they get that day. Perspective.

Post-ETA: i have waited for comic nerding related activities. One off pop up gigs from bands I love. Wee ML waited to meet bands I fan-spaz'd over.

Hmmm. I will wait for food. Like, when a Krispie Kreme opened locally, my ass was in line.

When White Castle opens in Orlando I will be there. And I will be watching Harold and. Kumar movies the whole time.

I have never waited in line that long. 45 minutes, tops. At an hour wait, I’m out. I’ll see the band on TV, I’ll eat at a different restaurant, I’ll visit the theme park in the off season. No luxury is worth it.

But like @MickeyLee says, it’s about perspective. My grandparents had to wait hours in line back in communist Poland for survival items. Food, toilet paper, etc. I’d line up for those things.

I’ve never waited in line for anything like that. If I get stuck in a long line, I’ll generally look around and smile, maybe strike up a conversation... people can get tense for some reason when confronted with ‘waiting in a long line.’

I’ve seen people lose their shit because an elderly cashier at Walgreens has four people in the queue. That’s absurd.

I feel fortunate to have access to the entire world through my smartphone which is in my hands now. I could order anything from anywhere, then wait for it in the comfort of my own home. I can reach out and talk to anyone, anywhere on the planet. How do people get bored?

Waiting in lines without smartphones, WiFi, & basic people skills would be my best guess

Waited 45mins maybe 50mins for a seat at a breakfast restaurant only to never get called so we ended up leaving.

Those are my long waits, also.
Other than that . . . I can't think of any I've done.
Last summer we went to Niagara Falls, on the U.S. side. We went on the Maid-of-the-Mist, and from the time we bought tickets to the time we got on the boat was probably less than 30 minutes. And that included a lot of walking.
The next day we walked over to the Canadian side and saw the line--there were literally thousands of people. It was literally probably several hours of wait time. It's a fun boat ride, but definitely not worth that kind of wait.

We did Maids of the Mist from the Canadian side and it didn’t take longer than an hour from purchase to boarding. I think it depends on when you go. I’ll admit, I would have waited longer if needed, though. On vacation, and it was my only chance to do it.
