Cho Sanchez Rivera and Ed Stafford have been hacking their way through the Amazon for the last 859 days. They just finished their incredible, record setting exploration of the Amazon from its headwaters in the Peruvian Andes to the Atlantic Ocean, on August 9th.

I have been following Ed's blog for about one year and for me, their real life tale of adventure and survival has been more interesting and gripping than anything our entertainment industries can make.

    Piranha for breakfast any one?

I admire people who get up and do this stuff. I have friends who rode their motorbikes from Istanbul to Shanghai and back a couple years ago. One of them broke his hand in Nepal and had the cast set so he could grip the handlebar and keep on riding.

I saw this story on the news the other night. What an adventure with the bugs, extreme conditions and reptiles. They looked so happy at the end drinking Champagne and frolicking in the ocean.

So do I - I would just love to.

I find it arduous doing the simplest of things, so I've no idea how they do it. Having said that...I find extreme things a lot easier than everyday life lol, so mebbe I'll try it. :biggrin1:

Good Luck! I felt abused flying to and from Australia in the front cabin and staying in a luxury hotel. I have nothing but admiration and respect for people who can do this sort of thing.

I know. The heat and humidity for over two years would be just relentless.

What I wonder is, how did this cost $100,000? Ok it's not huge money, but no hotels, they eat rice and beans and fish... was he paying himself a salary? I guess a website must cost something to create and maintain, but what could cost that kind of money?

I'd love to in theory - but I'm too lazy really. I need one of those pretend adventure hols, where they put you up in a hotel, and take u everywhere by bus, heheh.

What an amazing story of endurance: I'm very impressed.

All the same, though, my idea of roughing it is a three-star hotel
