i think it is sensible and not puritanical in the slightest to caution about risky behaviors that are more prevalent in the porn community, especially for gay porn. homophobic? come on. treatment centers that target gay populations do so because there ARE many diseases, conditions and risky behaviors that are more prevalent among gays. pointing it out is not to suggest that we're depraved to the core, but to acknowledge a natural consequence of the fact that society has, systematically and for decades or even centuries, dealt us shitty cards by denying us access to important institutions, discriminating against us, and punishing us for expressing our affection and sexuality publicly, thereby forcing us to hide these parts of ourselves in the shadows and in cultural ghettos.
that said, those of you who are speaking from a place of experience within the industry are speaking a lot of truth. most people who dabble in the industry will not have it follow them around for the rest of their lives -- for every news story about a terrific teacher who 'resigns' because porn of him from 20 years earlier surfaces, there are legions of other former porn actors who are never known to have been in the industry by their current peers. and it is true that the industry is very aware of historical and ongoing issues of health and risky behavior among its professionals, and rightly expends a lot of effort to try to combat these. are they doing the best job they could? probably not. but people can still navigate the industry safely.
i think bigbull29 is giving sensible advice for the op. while it's true there are niches in gay porn that cater to tastes outside the typical white jock with washboard abs, cute face and a huge cock, it's naive at best to assume there's a niche of porn viewers out there who want to watch someone like you over all else the industry has to offer. it's simply not true for ~99% of us -- and likely for you too. but if you want to find out if there's a niche for you, there are ways to dip your toes into the water without throwing yourself completely in this. jacking off on cam is a good suggestion. you should make sure you can even make it to the front page of cam4 on a slow night before you can put your bets on making it on a porn site. personally, i really don't think you have the right look to distinguish yourself in any niche that's out there right now, no matter your level of fitness. but if you wanna prove to us otherwise, that's not a bad way to start.
