John Howard...ex Prime Minister of Aus has had his own specials on TV lately sprooking of the Menzies years.

I have spotted quite a few holes in his diatribe that outright contradict history. Yet this guy led us off to war on lies, fed us lies and lives a lie. In this special he has sequences where he is not even looking at the camera, but in profile. it is at the times when the truth about serious questions need to be answered.

Yet this is one of the guys found guilty of leading us of to war for no reason, yet will never face a court.

His whole purpose for this production is an attempt to cleanse his conscience by comparing himself with his hero..'Bob' Menzies.

As see through as glad wrap on a toilet seat.

How U.S. Torture Left
Legacy of Damaged Minds

When U.S. officials approved brutal interrogations of terrorism suspects, they expected no lasting harm. They were wrong.

Beatings, sleep deprivation, menacing and other brutal tactics have led to persistent mental
health problems among detainees held in secret C.I.A. prisons and at Guantánamo.

Saturday, October 8, 2016 10:13 AM EDT
Over many months, The New York Times did what the United States government has not — examine the long-term mental harm of torture and coercive methods used in C.I.A. prisons and Guantánamo Bay.
Many of the men subjected to such treatment have emerged with the same psychological symptoms as tortured American P.O.W.s.

US reviewing support

In the wake of the attack the United States will review its support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, US National Security Council (NSC) spokesman Ned Price has said.

"US security cooperation with Saudi Arabia is not a blank check," Mr Price said in a statement.

"In light of this and other recent incidents, we have initiated an immediate review of our already significantly reduced support to the Saudi-led coalition."

The Saudi-led coalition backs Hadi's Government which, together with its own allies, is fighting the Houthis and Saleh loyalists in a civil war that broke out in 2014.

The Saudi coalition has denied carrying out the attack, suggesting "other causes".

Saudi Arabia warns UN to stay out of Houthi-held areas of Yemen

An airstrike by a Saudi-led coalition has targeted a funeral hall packed with mourners in Yemen's capital, Sanaa, killing at least 140 people and turning the site into a "lake of blood", Yemeni security and medical officials say.

Afghanistan: 15 Years of Invasion and Occupation

Published on Oct 8, 2016
15 years after NATO's invasion and occupation of Afghanistan, the 9/11 and Al Qaeda lies that were used to justify the war have disappeared. Now the truth about oil and gas, mineral wealth, opium and naked imperial ambition are all that remain. This is the GRTV Backgrounder on Global Research

Johnson wants sanctions against Russia

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson says sanctions against Russia should be 'considered' amid suggestions the country is committing war crimes in Syria.

Speaking during a visit to a refugee camp in Turkey, he reaffirmed his view that Russia was in danger of breaching international humanitarian law.

torture terror,or no .
.

He was tortured by the U.S. and held without charge. Suleiman Abdullah Salim is still haunted by the prison he calls “The Darkness.”

11suleiman-articleLarge-v2.jpg

Wednesday, October 12, 2016 12:19 PM EDT
At first, the Americans seemed confused about Suleiman Abdullah Salim. They apparently had been expecting a light-skinned Arab, and instead at a small airport outside Mogadishu that day in March 2003, they had been handed a dark-skinned African.
“They said, ‘You changed your face,’” Mr. Salim, a Tanzanian, recalled the American men telling him when he arrived. “They said: ‘You are Yemeni. You changed your face.’”
That was the beginning of Mr. Salim’s strange ordeal in United States custody. It has been 13 years since he was tortured in a secret prison in Afghanistan run by the Central Intelligence Agency, a place he calls “The Darkness.” It has been eight years since he was released — no charges, no explanations — back into the world.
Even after so much time, Mr. Salim, 45, is struggling to move on.

NYT
BREAKING NEWS

An American warship struck rebel areas in Yemen in the first direct U.S. attack on the group. The rebels 'ALLEDGEDLY' had fired on a U.S. ship.

Thursday, October 13, 2016 12:04 AM EDT
An American warship struck areas controlled by Yemeni rebels, launching three cruise missiles at radar installations that the Pentagon said had been used by the insurgents hours earlier to target another American ship.
The strikes were the first time the United States had directly attacked Yemen’s Houthi rebels, members of an indigenous Shiite group with loose connections to Iran who are fighting the Yemeni government. The strikes were approved by President Obama, the Pentagon said, warning of more to come if American ships were fired upon again.

To ease the transition ?

A nifty war can always take focus away from lesser evils - money, mails, documents and other boring stuff disappearing in January ;)

cant see Obama being to bothered about making any bold positive moves when he has those plotting devlish arseholes sitting there ..

Unlike in Syria, the United States has significant leverage to halt the war and the suffering. Unfortunately, the frivolous override by Congress of President Barack Obama's veto of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act has made using American leverage harder at this critical juncture. But Obama needs to act.

Will Obama push for Yemen cease-fire?
The war in Yemen is escalating and becoming more dangerous. The Yemeni people are facing a humanitarian catastrophe.

US Escalates Involvement in Yemen

zahmed1013yemen-240.jpg

SHARMINI PERIES, TRNN: Welcome back to The Real News Network, I’m Sharmini Peries coming to you from Baltimore.

The US Navy attacked three Yemeni radar installations on Wednesday night. This was the first time that the US became directly involved in striking Yemeni Houthis since the war began. Now, according to the UN there has been about 10,000 Yemenis killed and this war has created a humanitarian crisis by displacing 2.5 million people. The Yemeni radar installations were completely destroyed and it is, at this point, unclear whether there are any civilian casualties. Now, President Obama had authorized the strike in response to two missiles that had been fired at two the US battle ships in the strait between Yemen and the Horn of Africa. Neither one of those missiles caused any damage to the US warships but the US nevertheless retaliated by taking out the radar installations.

3 Men Charged With Domestic Terrorism, Planned to Bomb Kansas Mosque, Apartment Complex

"Three men face domestic terrorism charges for allegedly plotting to bomb an apartment complex occupied by Somali immigrants in southwest Kansas, the U.S. Department of Justice said Friday.

The men had talked about filling four vehicles with explosives and parking them at the four corners of the apartment complex in Garden City, Kansas, to create a large explosion, the DOJ said in a news release.

About 120 Somali immigrants live in the complex, CNN affiliate KWCH reported, and acting U.S. Attorney Tom Beall said one of the apartment units served as a mosque.

The trio, members of a militia group that called itself The Crusaders, wanted to “wake people up,” the DOJ said. They were stockpiling weapons and planned to release a manifesto after the explosion, Beall said at a news conference."
