Unfortunately, I lost my virginity to a prostitute.

It was a brothel in a small city of 100,000. The girl came to the door and took me to a room. She wasn't very friendly or all that hot.

She was up-front on what she would do and for how much. It was a "Message Parlor", and so the bed wasn't the most comfortable.

I guess i meant is it really that common, and (and please don't take offense at this anyone) is it just something that guys who don't feel they can get a guy on their own do (when I used to work at a gay bar all the time I'd have to hear how guys thought they were too ugly, too fat, too old, whatever to get a guy even though I would tell them that from what I've seen (and I would see a LOT there) that for every type of body or person or personality, there is someone else out there for whom that sets off their sexual spark).

I know guys who get laid more than i do and still have visited prostitutes.
Or think about the scandals you sometimes here about sport stars who got caught.
Don't think they couldn't get laid otherwise. How common it in fact is i can not say at all.

Yeah I guess it's something else. I've never used one. But I'll admit, there is a certain fantasy type thing that I could see being very hot to the idea of being paid to service someone. Something about not having any of the usual play or games or emotional responsibility but at the same time being treated exactly like what you'd be doing at the time -- being used and being paid for it.

No, maybe thats how you think of it. I consider dating getting to know someone and deciding if I want to have sex with them. I have my own money a man doesn't need to buy me anything for sex. Someone paying for dinner I WOULD HOPE is paying because he wants to buy me dinner, not for sex.

Paying for something does not lead to sex. Being a great guy worth my time leads to sex. Sex is free.

IMO, the sadness of it depends on the reason. paying an escort for sex is not as sad if a guy works very long hours and cannot get time for an SO or fuck buddy, or on the other hand a guy who is creepy, has the personality of a statue and couldn't pull if his life depended on it.

My first experience with a professional sex worker was a surprise of sorts. I was about to turn 30, my first divorce had just been finalized, and I was spending a lot of nights quietly getting drunk. A very good friend invited me out for dinner with his girlfriend and a "blind date" who was, of course, an escort.

I had a friend some years ago who used to be a prostitute. She had a drug habit to feed at the time. And I have no doubt she's gone back to prostitution in the years since.

To be honest, if I were that desperate for sex I would rather be a prostitute myself and get paid for it, than pay for someone else to fuck me. Why give away money when you can earn it? Not that I've ever actually done this, and I doubt I will at any point in the future.

I don't have a problem with the idea of people paying for sex in general though. It's just NSA sex but you can guarantee the NSA part and someone makes a bit of money out of it.
