Question -

I'm cut but recently got a patch of whitish flaky skin on my shaft.

It doesn't hurt, doesn't itch. After it "flaked off" , the skin under was really shiny like new skin.

Haven't been with anyone new and it isn't a sore. Is it some kind of reaction to a product. Anyone ever had this?

Could be a reaction, could be dry skin, could be too much masturbation. If it persists, see a doctor.

As an uncut man, I was one of those kids who kinda figured out how his dick worked. When I was a kid, I was told to just splash my dick in the bath. Once I started having showers, there was no water to soak in.

I have had the most success with rolling my foreskin back at the beginning of the shower and letting the warm water run down my body to my cock. I usually take my fingers at some point and rub under the head, caressing it but cleaning it at the same time.

Best of luck.

I'm intact, and I have never had a problem with irritation using the same soap on my penis as I do on the rest of my body.

For a man who is healthy, odor and buildup should not be a problem if the penis is kept clean.

I'm amazed at the number of threads dealing with personal hygiene. Those of you who are parents, please teach your children how to maintain good hygiene - how to bathe, how to brush their teeth, how to keep their genitals clean and healthy.

I was reading this thread and thinking exactly that. Well said.

Like you DC I am intact. I use whatever shower gel I am using on the rest of my body on my penis too and have never had a problem.

OoohMyGoodness! Here's a thread about just exactly how to wash your penis.
I am not easily surprised but...well...I'm a little surprised.
Here's a notion.
1. get all wet
2. get hands all soapy (you should use mild soap on all or your skin)
3. pull back skin
4. soap generously and STROKE THE PENIS being sure to mechanically scrub every single part of it. Remove all traces of soil, grease, insects and cheese-like substances found there. Do not pinch the head of the penis in the direction that opens the urethra. You will get soap in it and it will burn.
5. Pat dry.

Your skin moisturizes itself from the inside out. If you think you need some sort of oil or emollient to keep penis from drying out then apply some mild lotion. Lotions designed for baby skin is good. If your foreskin naturallly covers your penis then you should be okay.

I'm not sure I can taste my penis, but I was always under the impression that soap was bad as it would sting or something, also won't some soaps dry out your penis head?

You say you're nineteen? You haven't used soap yet? Your picture looks like you're uncut so I'd advise finding something besides water soon.
Good luck!
