“I've been a little amused over the last couple of days where people have been having these rallies about taxes. You would think they'd be saying thank you."

No. Really. He means it. You may search your pay stub in vain for any sign of tax relief, but don’t worry—it’s there. It’s gotta be, because the president keeps saying it is.

So ignore the $600 billion in tax hikes in ObamaCare. (A partial list is here: Obamacare Taxes: Deep Impact | The Foundry: Conservative Policy News. )

Ignore the tax hike on cigarettes, which targets low-income workers, President Obama signed last year.

And ignore the massive tax increase that President Obama and the Democrats will be hitting the top 20 percent of earners (who already pay more then 70 percent of federal income taxes) with starting January 1.

And ignore the massive taxes on your heating bills and energy use in the Obama “cap-and-tax” bill passed by the House last year, and coming to the US Senate later this month.

And definitely ignore the conversation in the Obama administration about a national sales, or VAT, tax in the works.]

Other than that, Mr. President, I have no idea why these Tea Party lunatics are complaining about taxes. They must be nuts!

98% of the American people received a TAX CUT this year.
Meanwhile, taxes are at their lowest levels in 60 years, according to William Gale, co-director of the Tax Policy Center and director of the Retirement Security Project at the Brookings Institution. "The relation between what is said in the tax debate and what is true about tax policy is often quite tenuous," Gale told Hotsheet. "The rise of the Tea Party at at time when taxes are literally at their lowest in decades is really hard to understand."

Industrial...did you look at that tax chart and what is coming? Are you seriously OK with the gov't hiking the taxes like this? Does gov't ever do anything well when it comes to spending our cash? I'm pro defense but damn...they find ways to waste that money and it drives me nuts. We're going to give them this much and THINK it's going to be well done?

C'mon man.....you can't really believe that can you?

Sam could be said for your side.

What is lost is our ability to understand each other and find common ground. The extremes are taking over and the middle ground seems to be gone.

I see him as a big gov't socialist. I think his idea that the gov't knows what is best for me is wrong. A communist - well probably not - after all - he made 5.5 million last year. That's a capitalist right there!

I try to answer questions but it isn;t always possible. If I have left you hanging somewhere I apologize and if you point me to the unanswered question I will do try to clarify.

I'm not some fantastic debater or public speaker. I'm not someone's alter ego on here. I'mma JAG. Just Another Guy. I have my opinions and enjoy talking to all of you. I think it is good for everyone to try to understand each other as we can learn from each other. Some on here are great at posting links and such and they seem very well read on the subjects they agree with like INDUSTRIAL. I admire that. I'm expresing an opinions. Disagree? FIne - fair enough. WHat I have resented are the attacks on people's intelligence when they disagree. The rudeness and belittling is disgraceful at time. I try to stay above it but it's really rampant on here at times so I'm sorry if in my disagreements where I have been rude.

Anyways. It seems pointless at times to talk. We should just agree to disagree but hey - that isn't as fun now is it!

If you paid $15K in taxes federally, then approximately you would have grossed about $85K if you still received a refund. If you owed an additional $15K, then that approximation would go up to about $139K. This is based on whether or not $15K has been federally withheld already without any state tax burden, bonuses or additional tax credits.

What does this mean? Simplistically, you're barely in or even near the top 20%. Considering that there's room for error or complete fabrication here, I'll take your figure with a grain of salt. But considering what you could be making a year, talking about taxes going up as if the average American is riding off of your coattails is completely disingenuous. How does it feel to know that you're echoing the rhetoric of the truly wealthy, who somehow duped you to believing that your low, six figure income is makes you more like them than the rest of America?

No dupe at all. And you bring up a fantastic point.

I think there are taxes on the rich that could be raised but there are also some that I find unfair. I think the rich have far too many tax loopholes but I do not agree with over taxing earned income. I'm not defending the current tax code.

I believe in a flat tax of about 12% EVeryone pays their share except those making under 20k per year. No crazy tax codes.

I resist any system that wants to pit me against another group. I think in the end we all lose. Whether it is rich/poor, black/white what have you.

I also resist any system that replaces my own decisions with those of a gov't that supposedly knows better than me.

On these reasons I resist the Obama Admin.

    I neglected to add VB

If I married someone who made what I do I would be in the President's sights for large income tax hikes....

Also - my property tax is up. My state sales tax is up. State DMV fees are up. And those are all due to the gov't needing more money and it does effect me - and that is not rhetoric.

^ Done? hmm . . . . still waiting for you to follow up on the discussion over there.

Meanwhile I see you found time to start a new happy thread about gays getting visitation rights.

    That was nice, Deflection??
