No dupe at all. And you bring up a fantastic point.

I think there are taxes on the rich that could be raised but there are also some that I find unfair. I think the rich have far too many tax loopholes but I do not agree with over taxing earned income. I'm not defending the current tax code.

I believe in a flat tax of about 12% EVeryone pays their share except those making under 20k per year. No crazy tax codes.

I resist any system that wants to pit me against another group. I think in the end we all lose. Whether it is rich/poor, black/white what have you.

I also resist any system that replaces my own decisions with those of a gov't that supposedly knows better than me.

On these reasons I resist the Obama Admin.
Wow, you made an anti-Obama slam, but actually followed it up with an alternative solution. We don't see that very often.

Out of curiosity though, the point of most of the spending that Obama has slated is investment in overhauling our infrastructure, which would have the long term effects of lowering expenses, and hence taxes, in the future, as well as increasing the standard of living for the average person. Do you not see any merit in such spending? Or do you feel the country is going to explode in less time than it would take for those effects to come to fruition?

Just thought I'd point out also, we live in a representative government, not a direct democracy. If you don't like other people making decisions for you, you're living in the wrong country.

98% of the American people received a TAX CUT this year.
What? The 13 extra dollars in the paycheck? The cost of Food went up during the recession...States and cities in debt are taxing citizens to the hilt due to the recession...utilities have been skyrocketing. The 13 dollars was an insult. Please... you and Obama need to stop talking about that mess...and Obama certainly shouldn't attempt to quip about it.

The Democrats' stimulus plan would give a $400 tax cut to individuals and an $800 cut to couples. That boils down to an extra $13 a week for most workers starting in June, and would fall to about $8 extra per week next January.
Foxnews

Did you even read the OP? It is clear on the taxes that people do not support. Obama's agenda is full of taxes:

So ignore the $600 billion in tax hikes in ObamaCare. (A partial list is here: Obamacare Taxes: Deep Impact | The Foundry: Conservative Policy News. )

Ignore the tax hike on cigarettes, which targets low-income workers, President Obama signed last year.

And ignore the massive tax increase that President Obama and the Democrats will be hitting the top 20 percent of earners (who already pay more then 70 percent of federal income taxes) with starting January 1.

And ignore the massive taxes on your heating bills and energy use in the Obama “cap-and-tax” bill passed by the House last year, and coming to the US Senate later this month.

And definitely ignore the conversation in the Obama administration about a national sales, or VAT, tax in the works.]

I see him as a big gov't socialist.

And that's just a big old socialist lie. I'm convinced you can't even define socialism and them match it up against his policies. Just another lie from the serial conservative lying machine. Yes I know know Saddam does have WMD's. He sent them to Iran before we got there.

Disprove it.

Trin, trin, trin trin trin trin...

It's like this, you know as well as I, that several things are true of the Polkatics board here at LPSG,

1)Politics here is like polka dancing, swift moves in straight lines going
essentially nowhere, then returning to point A.
2)Politics here is like polka dots- none of them connecting
3)The majority of posters in politics lean towards liberal sentimentality,
mired forever in lust for their heroes, FDR and Bill Clinton and what they
recall (often erroneously) as halcyonic times.
(though they'll deny all of it)
4)The liberal leaners never feel a need to provide proof or links; however,
if you are not an ultra liberal, if you even have a twinge of
conservatism, you must not only provide links, they must be to liberal
approved locations.
5)Industrialsize and others will change text- and not just yours. Some will
even stoop so low as to change their own statements, as shown here:

http://www.lpsg.org/2713469-post5.html wherein we find wording
altered from the original quoted text of the same poster, thus changing
meaning (to serve their purpose)
6)Other matters- far too many to list all of them; you know what they are
from past experience.
7)Politiics here is not generally attended to by people with actual ideas or
thoughts of their own, they quote and requote (and then alter text
and 'quote') the latest liberal hero for their proof, or the latest
conservative bash target (all Republicans) as proof that they (the
Reps) want the people to suffer eternally. When a person with fresh
ideas enters the ring, they panic and unless you rehash their script,
you are as good as destroyed.

Actually, most of us -- especially me -- always provide easy-to-click-on links where the reader can check for his or her self. I'm very careful to let anyone reading my posts on the Holy Crimes (Batman) thread be able to click on a link and read the about the criminal acts. Industrialsize does it more often than almost anyone. Sargon frequently provides links. The smooth-skinned and dulcet-voiced VinylBoy is real good at providing links to support his points or counter points.

Now, if you're talking about a drive by "shut the fuck up and quit pulling bullshit out of your ass" posts, sort of like this one, there's not much need for providing a link to the New York Times, Politico, CBS News, Washington Post, or Split Beavers Go Pink that Northland really hasn't anything to say or worth adding to a thread, except to read himself.

Oh, and you're welcome.

I neglected to add VB

If I married someone who made what I do I would be in the President's sights for large income tax hikes....

Also - my property tax is up. My state sales tax is up. State DMV fees are up. And those are all due to the gov't needing more money and it does effect me - and that is not rhetoric.
Yeah, and so did mine. It's the one and only price we pay to perpetuate our success.

here's a suggestion... Do what I did, get off your ass, start another business (or your first one) and MAKE MORE MONEY. Stop bitching because you have a necessary role to fulfill in this society. For fuck's sake, some Americans give their lives in the name of this country, while a couple hundred million more toil their entire lives keeping the shit we take for granted running smoothly... None of those people complain about their fate and threaten to tear the country apart if they don't get their way (and we all know that they NEVER get their way. They simply don't have the money to buy their agenda)... WHY is it too much to ask of our talented business professionals to do their part for the country by doing what they do best (making money)? They don't have to die or scrub toilets, they just have to work hard and pay their taxes. THAT'S IT. They bear no personal risk of injury, death or lifelong occupational misery. They just have to enjoy the fruits of everyone else's labor, and pay their taxes.

This is something I realized several years ago, when I had aged enough to become curious about details of my family's history that I didn't know before... That is when I discovered that in my family going all the way back to when they emigrated to America, the men basically fell into two camps... Either they were a soldier, or they busted their ass in their chosen profession. Everyone in preceding generations understood that if you weren't on the lines fighting our nation's wars, then it was only because you were BLESSED with talent/intellect that most Americans didn't posses. You (in the 3rd person) had damn well better bust your ass, because unlike millions of other Americans, if you screwed up at work, at least you weren't going to die or become a POW. (for ex... my grandpa was drafted for WWII, but became an engineer. My dad was drafted for 'Nam, but became an EOD expert(military version of a bomb squad) . Neither of them ever fought, but that's only because they both busted their asses at their respective professions.

This is what Americans who grew up in the past 20-30 years flat out don't understand anymore. The world owes none of us anything. Some of us are blessed with uncommon intellect and talent. To NOT use that talent to its highest and best use is to disrespect everyone in your family and everyone in this country who came before you who DID give everything they had, and made this country what it is today.

People in our generation need to SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GET TO WORK.

The whole "flat tax" idea is completely disingenuous on the simple fact that poor people will not receive any kind of financial break whatsoever. It only benefits the wealthy, who already make enough to sustain their day to day expenses with no struggles whatsoever. I used to have a job that paid me more than double what I'm making now. I paid more in taxes at the end of the year. But did I complain? Did I act as if some travesty was being made against me by my government? Did I look at people who made considerably less than myself, see how many struggled to keep the lights on and somehow fool myself into believing that my tax dollars benefit them more than they do myself? Did I instantly assume that these people were lazy and didn't work hard, blurring simple ideology with a reality one doesn't want to acknowledge? The answer to all of these questions is a resounding no.

At the end of the day, it's greed... plain and simple. And I have no remorse for anyone who make more than most people and their financial struggles.

^Imo, it's not greed as much as it is cowardice... The wealthy love the limitless opportunities America offers them, they just don't want to have to contribute to the defense of their lifestyle. They want someone else to do the sacrificing, while they reap all of the rewards. That's not being greedy, that's being a coward.

“I've been a little amused over the last couple of days where people have been having these rallies about taxes. You would think they'd be saying thank you."

No. Really. He means it. You may search your pay stub in vain for any sign of tax relief, but don’t worry—it’s there. It’s gotta be, because the president keeps saying it is.

Other than that, Mr. President, I have no idea why these Tea Party lunatics are complaining about taxes. They must be nuts!

And some on here post threads about LOWER taxes.... What a laugh.
quite, out of the mouths of fools and babes as they say, anyway what puzzles me and has never been explained is why the wingnuts object so vehemently to taxes.
Oh sorry dealling with redneck wingnuts here so vehemently means strongly in this case, like the way you are attached to your guns.

And to be honest its not just the president who is amused by the ignorant ranting of these teabaggers.
