Hi Everyone!

I was going over this in my mind yesterday, and I decided that this might be the best place to ask.

Someone pointed out that we did not currently have a gender setting in account details to include Trans People. My apologies that this was so-long overlooked. Now that the site upgrade showstoppers have been mostly dealt with, I had a few minutes to dig into settings and I was able to update this and add a new gender option in your account details:

https://www.lpsg.com/account/account-details

My question here is wether this is current with standards and expectations or if we ought to be updating this to be something like:

Cis Man
Cis Woman
Trans Man
Trans Woman

I am also wondering if we are going to open things up, wether non-binary might also be good to include.

If there are more contemporary words or terms I ought to be using, please let me know.

TIA. :)

Maybe you could set one field for identifying as cis, trans/nonbinary, or choose not to disclose, and then put man, woman, etc. into a separate section so that people don't have to choose to out themselves?

I am a trans man & I think cis man, cis woman, trans man, and trans woman would be great choices. Especially since on a porn site I think most people seeing "trans" will automatically assume they're a trans woman.
I would also recommend adding nonbinary as an option, and I'd recommend adding a place for people to insert their own pronouns. I know, I know, very PC, but I think it would help anyone confused about what pronouns to use for a trans individual or a nonbinary individual to have the pronouns right there for them to refer to if necessary, & they can be optional so anyone who doesn't want to add their pronouns doesn't have to.

No you should not. I get wanting to be inclusive. You added trans, that's fine. But this is too blunt and too far in that direction and at the same time overly restrictive and binary! There are still loads of people who identify simply as "man" or "woman" - without knowing or wanting to add the cis. The cis is extra, and it's political. It says " I acknowledge that trans people exist and I since they have to add a trans marker, I'm adding a cis marker." Here you are forcing these people, regardless of their beliefs, to add that extra political bit. And then, with the only options being cis or trans, you are forcing everyone to identify as either trans or not. This is not good for anyone. What if the person is intersex, doesn't want to disclose, doesn't care, etc?

On your end, you don't want a form that is overly complicated. While you can put 12 options here, it becomes quickly out of control trying to include everything and make it perfect. Why not stick with something simple.

I fully agree with adding this as well for an option, "..or choose to not disclose." Many forms elect to keep things stream-lined with 2 or 3 choices where one of two gender markers are selected or simply choose to not identify yourself (for whatever reason).

Being Trans, I often elected to not choose a gender marker when it was available. I chose that because I did not want to select either, mainly depending on what it was for or how 'honest' I was going to be.

When, even now, I am asked to choose one or the other (when options are either male/female) I have to take pause and think first, "Is this for medical, legal reasons?" That would be personally medical or personally legal. If I am filling-out something that is being used for Biological Reasons, I must regrettably choose male. If it is for legal reasons, I choose female (I am fortunate enough to have had my gender marker and full name on my Drivers License changed to reflect my identity for the state of Washington State and previously for the State of Nevada. Not all States fully do this, Texas being one of them - unless you live in Houston)

These days in modern society of 2022, inclusion should be in the forefront. Businesses, Companies and all places where people flock to enmass should realize that it is not possible to fully know who/what a person is, simply at face value. That is completely true. ie:, an elderly woman should not be assumed innocent simply because of her status. It would scare you to know the many bad and horrible deeds that my grandmother has done in her lifetime of her over 80 yrs - but you'd not know it to simply look at her ! She was a VILE woman indeed...such atrocities.

Sometimes, when I notice that there are 4 or more options for Identifying, it lets me know that the Owner(s) of this/these questionnaire (s) is/are trying to be either fully accommodating or this is for statistical reasons. Whatever their reasoning, it is good.
