I have always wondered how one goes about to find a gay doctor. I live in Orange county, part of Southern California and there does not seem to be any around here....

Even if they are, they just hide it cause they have to be professional , plus it's his personal matters, unless u seen him at a gay club/bar or hook up with him, you won't know

Not since we had weigh-ins at crew regattas (races) in high school and college. Guys would wear whatever they had on under their gym shorts (some briefs, some jocks, a few boxers), and if they were still not making the weight-restricted classes, they'd drop the jock and see if they'd make the weight naked. (They found out a jock doesn't weigh much...it hardly ever made a difference. (I remember TWO instances out of hundreds).

At my annual physical exam, I am naked from the start. My choice. My doctor doesn't care. The usual is underwear under a "gown", which I think is just stupid. Plus I have no modesty.

A bit off the topic of wearing a jock to the exam, but I have wanted to find a gay doctor for a long time. Not because I want to hit on him or hang out at a gay bar with him - simply for the fact that I would feel more comfortable about some discussions with a gay doctor than I would with a straight doctor. Doctors are people, and as in every walk of life, some of them can be quite judgmental. I don't know for sure, but I think it might be easier to open up some conversations that I don't really want to talk to a straight guy about, no matter what his education level is.

I can totally agree with you, there are some issues that I don't discuss with my doc, I had try in the pass but they seem to just brush it off, instead of being understanding and help me with the problem. I personally have never find or heard of any open-gay doc..

I have never worn a jock to a physical exam. My doctor has me stripped naked from the start anyway. However, my doctor has seen me in a jock strap before because we work out at the same gym. He and I are of the few that still wears a jock to work out in.

Personally I always go without underwear. When they ask me to strip down to my underwear I strip completely and get to enjoy a few more minutes without underwear. No one has ever said anything to me.

he might not do a thing outwardly, but he'll think something, no matter how much or how little.

If he's not gay he'll probably wonder real quickly why you wore a jock for the exam, and that will be all.

Exactly the reason I would like to find a gay doc too

Guys, please, just make sure you are wearing clean underwear. You mothers were right. A jock is for the gym, not to try to impress me in my office. Sheesh!

I think I would totally turn red if I had a jock on and I had to pull down my pants for any reason in front of my doc. I do have one on at the gym which is the right place for it....not the doctors office.

The ONLY time I ever had fun with my doctor was when I first started with him he wanted to start with a physical. When he took my pulse to get my heart rate (I have a resting rate of 48...which is low for my age) he asked "is your heart rate always this low?" I said, that depends what I'm looking at!! LOL..he was taken back for a second and then laughed and said ...ok you got me that would be true now answer the question! I said yes it's normal for me.

Definitely agree with this thought! Would definitely appreciate any tips on where Doctors like these are located at?

I did in the Marine Corps. Was on a run and realized I had to be at the doctor's for a physical. Just ran over and it didn't seem to be any problem.

After reading this thread a couple of weeks ago, i had an appointment this afternoon and decided over the weekend I'd find out for myself. Not a damn word or even a second glance when i dropped my running shorts to expose a McDavid jockstrap. It was as if i had on boxers or briefs to him. But again, he was a jock in high school a couple of years ahead of me and he could have played in college but chose to use an academic scholarship.

It did make it easy to give the shot in the hip, no pulling down boxerbriefs, he just threw in the needle behind the left leg strap and told me i could pull my shorts back up.

Slightly off topic but on a visit to a dermatologist about a year ago, I was told by the young female nurse that I could "strip to your boxers." (I"m not sure she said "strip" but whatever.) I was completely affronted and it was all I could do not to lecture her and say, "Real men wear briefs, young lady. Boxers are totally lame, and you should NOT assume that just because I'm a 50 yr old suburban man that I wear boxers." That girl needed a lesson!

Brings back memories of nearly 50 years ago. In the USA every male had to report for at least one draft board physical exam. Many were required to do so several times. Often huge groups, often 500 or more for each exam.

Some examining centers kept everyone nude, but when I went thru we all kept our undershorts on for most of the day.

Some guys wore jockstraps. Back then it wasn't unusual for men to wear jocks as their everyday underwear. Also, everyone knew that the physical exam included an exercise station where you had to do duck walking, some push ups, jumping jacks and running in place etc. I suppose a lot of guys weren't happy when told that just like the tighty whities, the jockstraps also had to come off for the exercises.

I've worn a black jock strap to the doctor's office...no comments, no raised eyebrows.

Now I have been tempted to wear leather but that would be soooooo obvious i was looking for attention.

Early this year I ended up in a very busy ER where beds were relatively close together and everyone could see everybody else, with the staff in the middle... I was glad they didn't ask me to take off my pants as I was wearing a jockstrap. I wouldn't mind in the privacy of a doctor's office, but in front of 20 people, including little old ladies, it would be a bit embarrassing...
