I assume he meant "glans" ring...a metal ring worn just aft of the head.

It really isn't advisable to wear any form of ring all day. If it is loose enough to not restrict blood flow, then it would very likely fall off with any weight applied. Guys with extreme mushroom heads might be an exception there.
