Not all the Xian-dominated countries are so good for women. I mean, Botswana? South Africa?

And the U.S. is of course STILL considered a rape-prone society.

so the pope doesn't represent the catholic church now?

In the same way that the president doesn't represent the whole population of the US. The Church is composed of individuals, all possessed of a free will and a conscience. The modern Catholic Church doesn't encourage blindly following any one leader, including the Pope. We have minds and are expected to use them.

Okay, I can't resist-

If you're going to insult someone at least vary your language and learn to spell! "Catholic" and "priest" really aren't that difficult. Thanks, troll- I needed that.

beats me. in practical terms, probably because without the tourist revenue the UK would be just another third-world toilet. I don't think that justifies the idea of a monarchy either, but as you will have noticed, nobody really listens to me :eyes:

the US at least makes the pretense that its president is endorsed by a majority of its population, though. not that I believe "electoral" government is any less unacceptable than organized religion, but that's a whole other issue.

you do need to know when something is the actual teachings of the church and when its the actions of a group within catholism who have voice due to who is Pope
?? so the pope doesn't represent the catholic church now? if catholics don't believe what the pope says, why don't they get rid of him? you're arguing in circles!
[post=344459]Quoted post[/post]
[/b][/quote]

No your simply not listening, this policy that has been brought into place has nothing to do with Catholism, its not a law, dogma or canon, and alot of parish's simply wont do it.

Even you must know that the Pope cannot change Catholic dogma, he might represent Catholism, it doesn't mean he cannot be wrong and it doesn't mean we are brain washed muppets who agree with everything.

frankly you are arguing with yourself in this thread, you know nothing about what the Catholic teachings are on homosexuality and if you did you'd know thats why its easy for me to say the Pope is wrong with this measure, Catholism as a faith never rejects homosexuals, its individuals who do that, if a Cardinal or someone writes something homophobic thats his view, not the view of Catholics or our faith, and its up to people like myself to let them know we do not find that acceptable within the Church in the modern age.

At the end of the day its easy to say what you do, but the the simple fact is you don't know what your talking about and the fact you can't even take in someone elses point or ideas says alot more about you than it does for me.

You beat me to it, Madame, but I gotta do it my way.

Hmmm, 5 karate kids, at least correctly spelled. I'm not sure if I want to grow up to be a ctholic pirest or a cathlic preirst. Is a "banada" a banana grown in Canada? Or do you have to be biritsh (is that a Yiddish word?)

Truly a winner!

I am always amazed at the number of personal attacks that DMW has endured during the years that I have been checking out the lpsg.

I grant that I have not read all his posts because some are related to subjects that I have little interest; nevertheless, I cannot fathom why. I enjoy his posts for their intelligence and wit. He maybe opinionated, but then, what highly educated and intelligent person is not? Do I agree with all his positions? Definitely not. However, I don't always agree with my own.

It is a shame that all teachers are not as passionate and involved as Jacinto. Perhaps, one day I will sign up for a course with Prof. Nunez at some university. Yea, yea, probably he will flunk my ass because a sentence has a subject and a predicate and not a bunch of periods in the middle. But you know, I know I will learn something. In my opinion, Jacinto :yourock:

I'm just wondering who this fucktard is and why he calls you karate kid? Just because he's into shotakon doesn't mean you're into shotokan. (For those who don't get that, shotokan's a style of karate, and shotakon's, what Cardinal Law did.)

He calls everyone karate kid. I think he needs to pull his ass away from that movie. He even referred to Freddie53 as the teacher from it.

Jacinto - I always wondered how the Ignore feature worked. Now I know. Thank you.

oh okay, my bad. the pope doesn't have anything to do with the catholic faith, wilfully contradicts its doctrines for apparently inexplicable personal reasons, and has no representation or influence with catholic subscribers. thanks for clearing that up for me; it all makes much more sense now.

And you know good and well that no one ever suggested such things. You simply choose to assign wilfull misinterpretations of what has been posted because you don't want to accept that there is anything good about the Catholic Church or organised religion in general. You have admitted as much. That is your prerogative, but you're not going to convince those of us who harbour no resentment of faith.
