I always thought that the USA was a forward "free" thinking country but it seems to me that there is still prejudice towards non hetero sexuals. In South Africa where I live, when our new constitution was adopted, and no state within the country can go against the constitution, same sex marriages are viewed the same as hetero sexual marriages with all rights and priveldges as a normal marriage. The first couple to wed were a high court judge and her girlfrien of some 20 years.(But only a lengthly court battle) and now any one can marry any one but not in a church.
