I have been watching West Side Story today on TCM. A 1961 film, I had forgotten what an abundance of big bulges and ass views that movie had. Really tight jeans back in that day made for a lot of nice eye candy.

I just finished watching it myself! I love watching hot men in tight clothes dance while maintaining a macho flair. And I've always had a thing for a young Russ Tamblyn!

And this was the movie that killed Richard Breymer's career, ironically. Funny, though, Natalie Wood did not want him as her leading man to begin with. She wanted Warren Beatty in the part of Tony. That would a completely different movie altogether.

Thanks for reminding me. I know you're trying to decide what to get me for Christmas.

I could use a new coffee maker. Krup me, baby.

Stevo shouldn't complain too much. The show and his association with Bernstein launched his career and opened a lot of doors.

I too saw the movie on TV this last Tuesday...great movie!

I saw the original Broadway production with Carol Lawrence (Maria), Larry Kert (Tony), Ken Le Roy (Bernardo), Chita Revera (Anita), and Micky Calin (Riff)....and Grover Dale as one of the Jets and a
singer/dancer who I had my eyes on most of the time...when
they were not on Chita... I have Playbills from four visits
with a seat, and 2 times with a Standing Room Only ticket.
YES, I liked it that much!

And, of course, I saw the great movie a number of time at a
theatre and on TV...the last time this last Tuesday on TV, as I
said earlier. The movie cast was with Natalie Wood (Maria), Rita
Moreno (Anita), Richard Beymer (Tony), George Chakiris
(Barnardo) and Russ Tamblyn (Riff)...and this time I had my eyes
on Russ...and Natalie.

This last Saturday, I was fortunate to see the 2010 Broadway
revival at the Palace Theatre, with Matthew Hydzik (Tony),
Sarah Amengual (Maria), Natalie Cortez (Anita), George Akram
(Barnardo), and John Green (Riff). It was a good production and
I plan to see it again before it closes in January 2011.

I have seen a number of revivals including one in London, and all
have been excellent productions, but for me the BEST OF
THEM ALL
...has to be the ORIGINAL Broadway
production.
