It really seems to me that a portion of gay men identify more with women than with straight men, so see attacks on masculinity, and the derision of male traits, as a 'good' thing; it's as if the feminist mentality which encourages women to see themselves as self-righteous victims (and therefore incapable of any wrong doing) has similarly inspired gay men to perceive themselves this way. That's certainly been my experience whilst discussing these issues so far - the gays always back up the feminists.

Whilst I totally agree with most of your post I find that latter statement to be at odds . Is it perhaps the "fag hags" and the more vociferous but minority of "the gays" that you refer to. As in the 1960s when homosexuality was a crime it was a way of creating an underground culture and identity which has over the years changed to the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Speaking from first hand experience I find that nowadays most of "the gays" are actually preferring the more masculine traits and even emulating them with fatherhood being seen as an ultimate goal.

That's good to know. I'm glad to be wrong about that then.

I only made that generalising remark - that gays side with feminists - because so far, that's been my main experience during discussions of this kind: that men that identify as strongly gay like to talk in terms of 'patriarchy', 'female oppression', and 'male dominated society' and think that those who don't also use these terms or disagree with them are "ignorant". I should also concede though, that there is a strong contingent of 'straight' men that talk in such feminist terms, particularly those that consider themselves anti-establishment, or revolutionary (although there is nothing anti-establishment or revolutionary about feminism - it's entirely mainstream now).
