I always wondered why.   As a teen I assumed that it was because I was undersexed, an absurd assumption in face of other evidence.  

For a while I put it down to sexual confusion about being gay.   Did I allow myself, consciously or subconsciously, the freedom to fantasize?

My partner (a prolific wet-dreamer) recently made an astute observation.  

I sleep rather badly, and often wake at night.  

Not only do I never have wet dreams, but I seldom have sweet ones.    

Maybe three or four times in my life, I remember a pleasantly sexual dream.  They're really the only nice dreams I can recall having.  

And they generally involve--I can't believe I'm telling you this!--sucking my own dick.   (BTW, in a forum such as this,  I need to add that it's something I can't do when awake, unlike a few of you guys.)

headbang8 -- The last sexual dream I had was one in which I was thinking how horny I was and how good it was going to be to suck my own dick. I was masturbating, of course, and was about to stop masturbating so I could suck myself. I have wondered if anybody else had ever dreamed they were sucking themselves, and will always wonder if my dream had continued I would have shot my juice. -- oh, well, guess I'll never know! ???
