Apparently "skinny dippers" at a recent event in Rhossili Wales this weekend are claiming to have broken the Guinness Book world record at skinny dipping (claiming 400 participants). But have they?

A quick cursory search online has produced several references to various skinny dip events, some sponsored by the AANR, which reportedly had as many as 1500 participants at some locations... events dating back to 2009.

Not to mention the thousands who frequent clothes free beaches in various parts of the world every summer. Or does it not count when nudists/naturists "skinny dip"?

Go figure.

Every year the AANR sponsors a "world record skinny dip" where people at member clubs and other locations all get into the water at a set time, have a group picture taken, and have the number of people counted. That's what your online search found. As you noted, a number of locations have far exceeded 400 people, so those Welsh people are just blowing smoke.
