I’m new so I’m looking for insight. What’s the point of the sexual preference percentage? I get that sexuality is sliding spectrum and all that but I see so many guys that say they’re 99% straight but they have multiple videos of them bare backing dudes! I’m lost. If you had a sandwich that was 99% shit and 1% ham, would you call that a ham sandwich?

I think I'd feel pretty safe calling it a shit sandwich.

If a guy lists themselves as 99% straight and he's out getting plowed by other guys like a bean field, I'd also say it's a pretty safe bet he's not as straight as he thinks.

I think the percentage thing is so that a person can make the declaration to others as to their leanings. My own is listed as 50/50 because I like ladies as much as the next guy :)p). I'm fairly confident that's my ratio and has been since I was very young. Of course who's to say it couldn't shift, and that could well be the case for some.

Some may also still be unsure and still deciding.

You know, I've often wondered what factors go into calculating percentages like that. I mean, I feel that I'm 100% straight. In fact, I've always said if I woke up one morning as a male that I'd no doubt be gay.

I love women. I love to look at women! I think they're incredibly sexy! But I have zero interest in having a sexual relationship with one. That's just who I am.

But every time I say something like that I always find something like this in my mailbox:

Does it really matter what % someone puts on their profile here
Not in the abstract it doesn't.

I pay little attention to others' percentages myself.

It could be a guide to some men not to flirt with guys who list themselves as 100% straight, so they're not barking up the wrong tree.

If I were single, and a flirtatious type, I would not flirt with a woman who is 100% gay or a man who is 100% straight, out of respect for their preference.

But it doesn't really matter: many people are gonna hit on people no matter what.

I dunno, whatever little lies you choose to tell yourself or to project towards others... It's a shorthand, isn't it? It's never going to be entirely accurate but it's a rough estimate of the sexuality of the wearer.

Personally, I wanted 55% Straight, 55% Gay but the computer said No.

Well, never let it be said you didn't give 110%.

Not exactly. I’m wondering why or how you claim 99% but have many videos of you fucking a dude and filming it and uploading it. Doesn’t seem 99% straight to me.

Some in the closet think they can fool the world and maybe even convince themselves that sucking a guys cock, taking his cock up the bum and returning the favor isn't gay because 99% of you doesn't want to have the truth written down

In my experience it's about social or cultural identity not actual preference.

If a guy I'm fucking or who is sucking me says he's straight or not gay I don't argue. Nor do I care how he sees or identifies himself or whether he's in denial or unsure or insecure or closeted or whatever.

Sex is not about what we call ourselves.

I don’t like the sexuality percent on here. I put myself at 80% gay: I used to be married to a woman and enjoyed sex with her very much, as well as with a couple other women throughout my life. But now I exclusively date men and ALL of my sexual fantasies involve men and always have. I just don’t consider myself to be completely gay because I have enjoyed sex with women in the past. I call myself ‘primarily gay’ because for all intents and purposes, I am. Yet I tried to answer a question in the ‘Ask A Gay Man’ forum and they kicked me out because according to my percentage, I’m not gay. I don’t consider myself bisexual, I’m really just a gay dude who has enjoyed sex with women in the past but who isn’t looking to hook up with any women in the future. I feel like the percentages on here and the rules around it are a bit limiting.

Im curious to know how you made the transformation from being married to a woman to being homosexual. Do you still like women now?

I think I set my percentage when I first signed up and that was the last I thought of it. I think I might even be one of the 99% straight people. If I were to evaluate it now I would choose a different percentage, but I also don't know how to quantify it and I don't really care to spend any time doing so.

I did have a different perspective on the idea of not admitting something to oneself, though. If when I had signed up my options had been straight, bi, or gay, then there is probably a greater chance that (at least at the time that I signed up) I wouldn't have admitted to even the 1% and would have said straight. The percentage scale let me admit to something that wasn't absolutely straight but was closer to it than the other options would allow, at least to a person who is in that kind of mindset.

Basically my viewpoint is exactly the same but in reverse. I am straight/hetero or whatever term. I have only ever wanted sex from and had sex with women. I can appreciate a good looking hard cock. Hell, I'm on this site complimenting dudes on their junk. However I have no interest in or even slight desire to have intercourse (giving or receiving) with a man. That 1% maybe demonstrates my willingness to grow and explore. When I was 21 I got head from a guy once just to see. I never did it again. I do not want to ever suck a dick but I think I would be open to mutual stroking . I don't know. It is a spectrum but for me there are clear guardrails (no intercourse or oral). That's just my two cents for me. I am no expert.

I am attracted to men and women. The attraction is not what I would call an even or equal split. I have had significantly more romantic and sexual interactions with men than women, by choice.
