Yeah, it's a bit of a shame really. Just that the car manufacturers, like yours too, kept putting their hands out to the government for more money, subsidies etc. You have a government still willing to give your car manufacturers protection and billions in oil subsidies to help the car market...many indirect and direct ways to support manufacturers.
I for one think a country needs to produce it's own civilian vehicles. But we had to look at the reality of it as well. We live next door to the largest car manufactures in the world and cheapest labour. So, we either try desperately to compete, or we find somewhere else, a niche market to throw money at. We still make heaps of stuff, just that for a population of our size to compete with the mega factories filled with robots would be an endless black hole to pitch money down.
We would rather I spose try find jobs for people, as the car industry is becoming even more automated. Even Rolls Royce factories now...the company which once prided itself on hand made vehicles, is mostly automated...does not make a difference to the price though

So we are trying to think of new ideas to invest in, for people to have jobs...not robots...it all comes down to money in the end.
