Ok. the "not a women's issue"?

Hilaire, when he was here had a thread regarding laundry I questioned the validity of possting it aas a woman's issue. Crap storm enssued. ML pointed out then, and Kotch pointed out )in another thread that i cannot find but perhaps she can. maybe it was a pm, in which case i will need to get her permission to post) that ultimately the Women of lpsg have say in what is or is not a woman's issue. That yes it can be confusing for noobs and veterans alike and I pointed out that it confuses the whole damn thing when exceptions are made, and she agreed but said that the Women of LPSG as a whole decide what goes in their forum.

Which of course Nudeyorker pointed this out. "if you want it moved fine...if not, that's fine too"

How about a guy who drives an old car with lots and lots of miles on it, and when he thinks about buying a new one he can't get past the fact that a car is still just a car so he keeps putting lots more miles on the old one?

For the most part, I'm not into cars. I'm also not into making rash judgments of people because I don't think that they're accurate. I don't believe individuals are so simple that you can understand them at a glance.

I pass all kinds of judgments on the fly before I get to know someone, but for me, the car isn't one of the things that strongly influences how I pigeonhole someone - not unless that person is driving a vehicle with a particularly strong personality, like a Hummer. Although, if I met someone who drove a Hummer, I think I might try to figure out why they're driving a Hummer because I'd be trying to figure out what's going on there that made that person make that choice, unless it was covered in bumper stickers that made that person fit too easily into a stereotype. If someone drove a Hummer and had Obama, pro-choice, and "Eat locally. Think globally." bumper stickers, that would make me curious. So I suppose that if I really notice your vehicle, it means that I've noticed something I think is interesting.

The guy who was into VW buses? Not a hippy or into Phish, which is the kind of quirky thing that made me go, "That's interesting." Not fitting into any stereotype made me pigeonhole him as someone with an interesting quirk, which made me more interested in getting to know him. Is that the kind of thing you mean?
Now that's a nice grown-up answer.

My first car was a '75 Malibu Classic. I also had a '65 LeMans convertible that was excellent and a '90 Bonneville. The new pony and muscle cars aren't the same, but they are much better daily drivers. I would love a brand new white Dodge Charger Hemi with black racing stripes on the hood. I also like the look of some of the new Audis with their "autobahn passing cachet."

For now I am happy commuting in my black-on-black Honda Accord, watching gas prices climb ever higher. :yikes:

Sorry, to new age pretty for me. I plan to stay old fashioned, drooling at the old styles. 1965 Buick Riviera, need I say more *fans.*

Of course, a vehicle is just a vehicle... CLEAN is still my number one. I can't say that certain types of vehicles don't attract lingering looks, but a vehicle wouldn't make me immediately interested or disinterested in the guy driving it.

What year do you feel was the last "old school " muscle car year? Cause I still consider my cat old school muscle. AND a few of the cars from the 80s but very few...

What kind of cars did/do you have?

Currently own 1996 & 2004 Dodge Vipers, 2000 Camaro SS, 2004 Corvette Z06, & a Superformance GT40 Clone. Each one modified for speed. The Corvette is the "weakest" of the bunch with ~700rwhp, and the '96 Viper on race fuel can put down ~1700rwhp.

Previous ones include a 1996 Toyota Supra, a 1966 Bonneville Coupe, 1972 Trans Am, 1989 Trans Am GTA, 2004 Mustang Cobra, 2006 Ford F250, a 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena, & a few others.

The "dicks on wheels" comment was toward the Viper & Supra (when I had it). I've rarely gotten the "compensation"/small dick remarks and only when I owned the Ferrari, and it was mostly from guys.

As a response, I would ask them "why is my penis on their minds", which usually shuts them right up.

I do see cars as an extension of personality, so I like the car to reflect the man. I like a clean and well maintained car. I like a trucks, jeeps, muscle cars or old sports cars. Flashy new cars that scream "look at me" really aren't my thing, any more than flashy guys who seem to scream "look at me" aren't my thing.

With men AND cars - really, it's what's under the hood that counts!

The swoopy and smooth-looking hatchback (Nissan 200SX) I had when I met my now wife went down well at the time, and with a few other women as well. I'm over Japanese cars now so now I have a German hot hatch which is practical-looking with a hidden sporty edge. My motorcyle, a black Triumph Bonneville 900, appeals to middle-aged guys who stare at it like they would like to have one, if their wives would let them! When you're threading the helmet strap and getting ready for the off, you get the jealous stares.

A few women are into motorcycles, but quite a few I have spoken to don't like the connotations of death and injury (which is mostly a problem if you don't treat it with respect).
