Because they are afraid that some moron will sue them because they did not tell them that clothing is flammable.

That is why a bag of peanuts has to post a warning that they "may contain nuts".

I know, a had to buy a toaster recently, and the tag actually said, "do not submerge in water while in use" Why would you submerge a toaster in water anyway???? Am I missing something?

My favorite one " plug into a electrical outlet to operate"

haha that's a classic! :biggrin1: does it mean that someone, somewhere actually HAS submerged a toaster in water? or do these manufacturers have teams of lawyers sat in a basement somewhere writing disclaimers against EVERY conceivable accident? will every product one day come with a sixty page instruction manual?

oh and what IS TSR? it doesn't ring a bell...

The Student Room

I don't go on there anymore. The layout is sickening. I prefer simple layouts like this one. Anyway, there are a lot of pretty 'Landan' girls on there.

Here are some:

On a shampoo bottle: "Use repeatedly for severe damage."

On a new iron: "Never iron clothes on the body."

On a plastic plate: This item does not rust.

Funny Product Labels

what's disturbing about that is the 'may contain nuts'.....imagined how pissed off you'd be if your bag of peanuts was just full of peas!

On a jar of some Asian sauce that I needed as an ingredient once, it said.

Less Sugar
Less Sodium
Less More.

On a box of toothpicks: Hand-polished...by machine.

On the package for a Batman costume: Cape does not enable user to fly.

I don't go on there anymore, I used to post the odd bit of verse.

And why do toasters have a setting that will burn your toast? And what about cooking instructions that tell you: 'blend all ingredients together and stand in fridge for an hour,'?

My B/F wrote to a company offering a recipe which claimed this. He wrote " Sorry but I don't fit in my fridge can you provide an alternative?" They never responded.

One of my favorites is "this (plastic) bag is not a toy." I'd love to see a kids face when he gets a plastic bag for Christmas.

My toaster has only two settings: raw and incinerate. Unfortunately, you never know which is which. The same setting this morning may be raw, but with an identical slice of bread from the same loaf, tomorrow, that setting could be incinerate. It's a game of chance, and I've never seen a pop-up toaster that didn't operate that way.

That whole "stand in boiling water" and "stand in the fridge" must be a UK thing... all of the US instructions I've seen along those lines were "place in boiling water" or "refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight."
