foo-ku-o-kanz
is my entry in the contest

Fukuoka Prefecture (like a state/province) is on the north side of Kyushu island. Also a main city with the same name.

Fukuoka, Japan

If you wanted to refer to them in English, the demonym is (as two other posters have posted) "Fukuokan"; and it's pronounced "foo-kwoh-can".

If you wanted to refer to them as the Japanese do, the demonym is "Fukuoka-jin".

Another definitive, but humorless, answer from mindseye. ;)
