In light of the 2008 booklist thread, I thought I'd start this.

I think reading is one of the greatest things you can do.... I know people who don't read..or can't read! It's unfathomable to me to think about not reading!

No prizes for guessing my favourite books...

How about you?

I am reading Borderland/La Frontera by Gloria Anzaldua

Great book! I think it transcends the overt subject matter, which is Latina identity and sexuality, to speak to all who straddle two worlds and their struggle to define themselves under those conditions. I would have loved to meet her.

The Age of American Unreason. by Susan Jacoby.
OMG, how much do you love this book? Susan Jacoby is one of my favorite authors!

I'm reading a book about King Edward VII, Queen Victoria's son who came to the throne when she died in 1901. He lasted until 1910, i think. Things were much different in this "Edwardian" period prior to WWI.

I'm working on several at the moment:

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danieleski
Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon
The Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy
The Collected Fictions of Jorge Luis Borges

Several of them are re-reads, but they're all so good...
